"Grenaches Centenaires
"Impressively deep in color for the vintage, the wine is extremely round, fresh, clear and well-defined. The tannins are present and quite strict in style, but they're ripe, and overall it's exceptionally promising. It's not huge in terms of fruit or body, but it's well-balanced and precise. It comes from 120-year-old vines planted on north-facing clay-and-sand lieux-dits in Charbonnières and Esquières." (Decanter 2021)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (guide 2022) 94/100
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the wine:
Superb peppery, spicy nose. Deep, velvety attack, fleshy tannins, lovely balance on the palate, generosity and intensity. Keep for 5 years.
About the domain :
The Armenier sisters are one of Châteauneuf's leading names. Grandmothers of the vine, they work under the aegis of biodynamic viticulture and lavish rare care and attention on their vines. Their range comprises four cuvées: a fresh Côtes-du-Rhône, a powerful white and two highly concentrated, yet refined reds. The cuvée vieilles-vignes, in particular, is remarkable for its power and balance. A highly recommendable estate.

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the domain :
Managed by Catherine and Sophie Armenier, the Domaine de Marcoux is one of the leading estates in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Early on, it turned to biodynamic viticulture (not certified). The wines have a rare naturalness and depth, an energy and power on the palate that are not supported by any artificial ageing. These great classic wines, marked by the imprint of ripe Grenache, age wonderfully. Despite high maturities, all the cuvées have found their balance and seem less hot than in the past. The whites regularly rank among the finest in the appellation, thanks in no small part to the work carried out on the soils. The wines have gained in minerality and salinity. Year after year, Lirac becomes a must-have.
