Bettane & Desseauve
"A benchmark for the appellation, combining complexity and elegance".
"We love this beautifully sized Châteauneuf, which combines full ripeness with fresh fruit. The nose sparkles with dark berry and spice notes. The fruit is not cooked, but goes through a very pleasant primary phase. On the palate, the juice is full and dense, with fine tannins lining the palate without harshness. The structure is just right, giving the necessary relief to stand up to this level of richness". (Le Guide RVF 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 91/100
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the wine:
Expressive nose, attack marked by a certain gourmet sweetness, harmonious, generous length.
About the domain :
The Armenier sisters are one of Châteauneuf's leading names. Grandmothers of the vine, they work under the aegis of biodynamic viticulture and lavish rare care and attention on their vines. Their range comprises four cuvées: a fresh Côtes-du-Rhône, a powerful white and two highly concentrated, yet refined reds. The cuvée vieilles-vignes, in particular, is remarkable for its power and balance. A highly recommendable estate.

About the wine:
Chateauneuf du Pape 2020, 80% Grenache with small amounts of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault, presents complex aromas of crushed stone, garrigue, licorice and ripe cherry. It's full-bodied yet lively and spicy, firm on the midpalate, then slightly dusty on the lingering finish.

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :
Managed by Catherine and Sophie Armenier, the Domaine de Marcoux is one of the leading estates in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Early on, it turned to biodynamic viticulture (not certified). The wines have a rare naturalness and depth, an energy and power on the palate that are not supported by any artificial ageing. These great classic wines, marked by the imprint of ripe Grenache, age wonderfully. Despite high maturities, all the cuvées have found their balance and seem less hot than in the past. The whites regularly rank among the finest in the appellation, thanks in no small part to the work carried out on the soils. The wines have gained in minerality and salinity. Year after year, Lirac becomes a must-have.

About the wine:
Lightly perfumed nose with a touch of red fruit and herbs. Purity of fruit on the palate, fine tannins develop and give length. Clean, fresh finish. Very appetizing.

About the wine:
With an alcohol content of 15.5%, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2020 is a shimmering pale ruby. It combines aromas of red and black cherry, blackberry, black plum, garrigue and white pepper. Full-bodied, elegant and enveloped in silky tannins, this 2020 red is well-balanced by refreshing acidity and finishes complex.

About the wine:
Bright black cherries, blackberries, peppery herbs and spices are just some of the nuances of the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape. A classic, medium- to full-bodied Châteauneuf du Pape with a seamless vintage profile, ultra-fine tannins and an excellent finish. This magnificent, distinctive wine can be enjoyed at any time over the next 15 years or more. The 2020 is a normal blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 7% Syrah and the rest Cinsault, aged mainly in concrete tanks, but with 20% in truncated-cone tanks and 5% in old barrels.
