Domaine de Nalys - Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve 2015
94/100
Robert Parker
The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Réserve is a great success. Yes, there is wood present, but it is balanced in proportion to the power and intensity of the fruit, ripe cherry. This full-bodied wine is sumptuous and velvety from start to finish, with notes of baked spices and a long cherry-vanilla finish. It is accessible now, but I would give it a few years to allow the wood to integrate better." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker) A wine for laying down!

Dark ruby red color
Nose
Intense aromas of ripe blackcurrant and blueberry, with hints of smoked herbs.
Mouth
Fine and elegant. Full-bodied and concentrated attack with beautiful texture, black fruit, chocolate, and licorice. Pronounced tannins but with a beautiful grain. Keep for a while longer to allow the tannins to soften, or open in advance.

Bettane & Desseauve
5-star estate (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About the estate:
Things are moving forward at the powerful Ampuis estate. In the north, Philippe Guigal no longer hides his desire to eventually go organic, and recent plantings at Le Plomb have been carried out to enable winegrowing using a winegrowing machine. But it is in the south that the most important projects are underway, with a new winery operational at Château de Nalys from the 2025 harvest and new buildings expected in 2026. Meanwhile, the first tastings—still unofficial—of La Reynarde, the future new jewel of Côte Rôtie, are continuing, demonstrating to those who doubted it the beauty of the Fongeant terroir.

About the estate:
One of the oldest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, listed as early as the 17th century, when it was owned by the Nalys family. Its venerable vineyard (52 hectares) underwent a renaissance in the 1950s. A sure bet in the appellation, acquired in 2017 by Maison Guigal. The conversion to organic farming is underway.
