James Suckling
"An exceptional cuvee of density, balance and richness".
"A tiny 50-acre parcel in the heart of the appellation's historic vineyard: this Cœur de Roncharde has much more going for it than its pedigree. Starting with its beautiful golden glow and eloquent bouquet of acacia, dried apricot, hazelnut butter and gunflint. This superb complexity is also evident on the supple, unctuous palate, lined with melted oak calibrated to measure, and ending with a smoky, mineral touch. To be reserved for noble fish". Rated area (2023 guide) Recommended
About the wine:
Slightly floral style, with a ripe, sweet peach nose that lingers on the palate. Beautiful concentration and length, this is a flamboyant, oak-influenced expression with real intensity and concentration. Beautifully pure, this is a new cuvée for Niero from the 2018 vintage. From the granitic Roncharde locality, just above Côte Chatillon.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the domain :
Nestled in a small cul-de-sac in the heart of the village of Condrieu, Domaine Niero has just nine hectares of vines: four in Condrieu, two in Côte Rôtie, just over one in Saint-Joseph and just under one in Crozes-Hermitage. There's also around a hectare devoted to the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP, both Syrah and Viognier. Although the clean, modern approach is undeniable, the wines are full of character and expressive of their different terroirs.

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list, and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the wine:
We love the expression of Condrieu wines that free themselves from the varietal character of Viognier to open up a wide spectrum of aromatic complexity, such as this Cœur de Roncharde, to which the granite terroir lends admirable definition and plenty of sap.
About the domain :
Since 2004, Rémi has been at the helm of this family-run estate, which boasts a fine range of terroirs in Condrieu, with 4 hectares divided into six parcels. He also produces several Côte-Rôtie cuvées from the Viallière and Bassenon terroirs, as well as a Saint-Joseph cuvée, Bois Prieur, and another in Crozes-Hermitage. The wines are serious, rather classic, with occasional ageing that marks them a little during their youth.

About the wine:
Aromas of peach skin, apricot and green mango. The palate is creamy, dense and textured, with notes of custard apple and custard cream on the midpalate. Golden russet apples and dense, almost oily finish.
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2024 ) 91/100
About the wine:
A charming, comforting, creamy white with notes of cooked lemon, peach, white flowers and nougat. Medium- to full-bodied, with a creamy texture. The generous finish is beautifully textured. Drink now.
