Rémi Niero Estate
Domaine Rémi Niero was founded in the early 1970s by Jean Pinchon, an ambassador for the Condrieu appellation. In 1985, it was taken over by Robert Niero, his son-in-law, who turned it into a benchmark estate. Today, his son Rémi is in charge of the estate.

Domaine Rémi Niero benefits from an exceptional terroir. With a vineyard of almost 7 hectares in the Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu appellations, Domaine Rémi Niero harvests the best of the Viognier and Syrah grape varieties from vines planted on steep hillsides and small terraces (chaillets), applying highly integrated growing principles.

The work, passion and know-how of successive generations have made Domaine Rémi Niero wines nectars of authenticity, purity and natural balance.

"Limited to 400 numbered magnums, this is a little treasure not to be passed up!"

"On another level, the Côte Rôtie 2020 Les 400 De La Viallière is pure class, offering classic black raspberries as well as aromas and flavors of spring flowers, game, rose petal and spice. It's full-bodied, with a fluid, multidimensional palate and incredibly polished tannins. This is a magnificent Côte Rôtie in the making." (Jeb Dunnuck 2022). "An exceptional cuvee of density, balance and richness".

"A tiny 50-acre parcel in the heart of the appellation's historic vineyard: this Cœur de Roncharde has much more going for it than its pedigree. Starting with its beautiful golden sheen and eloquent bouquet of acacia, dried apricot, hazelnut butter and gunflint. This superb complexity is also evident on the supple, unctuous palate, lined with melted oak calibrated to measure, and ending with a smoky, mineral touch. To be reserved for noble fish". "A deep, persistent cuvée that reveals all the charms of a great Syrah terroir".

"A textured, broad and layered Cote-Rotie, composed of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, with aromas of dark berries, roasted meat, dried thyme and warm spices. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins. Broad and ample, with plenty of density and texture, it nevertheless remains elegant and graceful. Harmonious, with verve and assurance. Well-balanced and concentrated, with a velvety texture in the center and a long finish." (James Suckling 2024)

"New vintage

"The first vintage of this wine, Crozes Hermitage Vie Magne 2020 comes from the rolled stones and red clays around the commune of Beaumont. It's nicely fleshy and round, with restrained pepper notes and plenty of ripe cherries, a full mouthfeel and a light dusting of supple tannins on the finish. It should provide drinking pleasure over the next few years." (Wine Advocate 2022). - Limited quantities available.

"A superb terroir

"Still in barrel at the time I tasted it, Saint Joseph Bois Prieur 2020 comes from the granite soils of Saint Pierre de Boeuf. It has lovely herbal and smoky nuances, baskets of ripe cherries, a fleshy, medium to full-bodied palate and a lingering finish that's both silky and lively. Drink it young, over the next 5 years or so." (Wine Advocate 2022).

"From vines around 70 years old on a south-facing slope (one of Condrieu's most famous), Niero's 2019 Condrieu Chéry is a pretty textbook, brimming with scents of jasmine, hibiscus, ginger and white pepper. There's a base of melon and pineapple, but this medium- to full-bodied wine is more about flowers and complexity than fruit richness, reverberating with echoes of refreshing spice." Produced only in the best vintages, Vires de Serine is aged for 24 months in new oak barrels. This great Côte Rôtie reveals intense aromas of violets and black fruits. On the palate, the aromatic power is supported by racy, elegant tannins. The finish confirms the wine's ageing potential.

"The nose of this cuvée shows full maturity, in a very buttery style. The palate, still blocky and compact, needs definite refinement, but this Condrieu, which offers fine bitters, is promising." (RVF Spécial Millésime 2015 - June 2016)
