"A blend of six terroirs in this cuvée, which was exceptional in 2017, and is available on a large scale for the appellation. Two reasons to be enthusiastic about this Syrah, with a nose already in full bloom, combining flowers (violet, rose) and black fruit with a finely roasted, chocolatey background. We're won over by the amplitude and grace of a mouth that's round, intense and airy, hemmed in with fine, crisp tannins, filled with suave, long, ripe fruit. A perfectly channeled power that makes this an already gourmet wine with obvious potential". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020) This dazzling Côte Rôtie, with its silky texture and elegant fruitiness, will sublimate your dishes!

Domain rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
This small estate produces just four cuvées, three in Côte Rôtie and one in Condrieu, from its 12 hectares of property, including 11 in Côte Rôtie, spread over a large number of parcels. Owned by the Guigal family since 2006, the estate is managed by an independent team.

Two reasons to be enthusiastic about this Syrah, with a nose already in full bloom, combining flowers (violet, rose) and black fruit with a finely roasted, chocolatey background. About the domain :
When Marcel Guigal acquired this estate in 2006, founded in 1961 and enlarged and modernized in the 1990s, he added a jewel to his already richly decorated crown: a 12-hectare vineyard planted mainly with "serine", an ancient variety of syrah, which produces Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu wines.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (2018 guide) 93-95/100 (Extraordinary wine)
Domain rated (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
One of my favorites from Bonserine this year along with Viallière, the 2017 Côte Rôtie la Sarrasine offers delicate aromas of flowers, herbs and spices. Medium to full-bodied, with black olive and blackberry flavors, the material fills the palate and offers a supple core around potpourri notes. Deep espresso and vibrant berry flavors mingle on the long, silky finish.
About the domain :
Domain de Bonserine is owned by Guigal but operates independently. With ten hectares of vines in Côte Rôtie, it is one of the largest landowners in the appellation, from which it makes three wines. La Sarrasine and La Garde come from different lieux-dits, while La Viallière comes from this single parcel of vines.

Domain rated (guide 2024) Selected (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the domains that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
Acquired by the Guigal family in 2006, Domaine de Bonserine has retained total autonomy. Ludovic Richard, who runs it, can draw on a fine heritage of vineyards in Côte-Rotie and Condrieu. The entire vineyard is worked and ploughed, and indigenous yeasts are de rigueur. Aging is still quite present in the Côte-Rotie series, but will mellow with age.

Having done a Côte Rôtie tasting in December, I realized that this sample deserved its place. Black fruit on the nose, with floral notes. The palate is full and suave. A welcome 3* for the right price.

Lots of fruit and freshness. COTE RÔTIE can be drunk now and kept for a few years.
