"A wine made for laying down".
"The Côte-Rôtie is classic, quite dense and fleshy, but without heaviness, with a palate that blends notes of black fruit and spice, all served by a good fresh length. A fine bottle to drink within 10 years". (Le Guide RVF 2024). The estate's emblematic cuvée since its creation.

Côte-Rôtie
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
A new wind is blowing at Vidal-Fleury. Antoine Dupré has replaced Guy Sarton du Jonchay at the head of the oldest trading house in the Northern Rhône (founded in 1781), now owned by the Guigal family but managed independently. New commercial ambitions, and also gradually a new style in the cellar, which is beginning to show in the range on offer. To be continued.

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Cité (Vin réussi)
About the domain :
The oldest Rhone wine merchant in business, founded in 1781 from its Côte-Rôtie vineyard, and soon renowned - Thomas Jefferson held a memorable banquet here in 1787. Owned by the Guigal family since 1986, it boasts a monumental cellar, whose architecture is inspired by the Egyptian site of Saqqarah.

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list, and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the wine:
The côte rôtie is classic, quite dense and fleshy, but without heaviness, with a palate that blends notes of black fruit and spices, all served by a good, fresh length. A fine bottle to drink within 10 years.
About the domain :
Founded in 1781, Vidal-Fleury is the oldest winery still in operation in the Rhône Valley. Acquired by the Guigal family in the early 1980s, it boasts a modern, high-performance infrastructure, as well as autonomous management and winemaking. The range is vast, covering most of the Rhône Valley's major appellations. The wines are now reliable, in a rather classic style.
