Domaine de la Biscarelle
Domaine de la Biscarelle is located in the Grès district of ORANGE, halfway between the Cité des Princes and the famous village of Châteauneuf du Pape. It has been run by Jérôme Grieco and his wife Christelle since their first vintage in 2009. They lead the vineyard with talent, producing wines of rare quality. In 2013, La Revue du Vin de France awarded them the "Discovery of the Year" prize.

The Domaine de la Biscarelle vineyard covers 22 hectares of vines and 2 different appellations: Côtes du Rhône: 17 hectares of vines between forty and eighty years old. Châteauneuf du Pape: 5 hectares (with some plots as old as one hundred years) located in the northern part of the appellation, where the vines are planted on hillsides with their famous round pebbles that the mistral wind sweeps away all year round. Phytosanitary treatments are kept to a minimum, with all efforts concentrated on working the soil.

At Domaine de la Biscarelle, the grapes are picked in crates and sorted by hand at optimum ripeness, and are neither destemmed nor crushed. Maturation takes place in concrete vats in order to "express the terroir as fully as possible, without imposing any artifice.

"Le Grand Saint-Paul" is produced by Chateauneuf du pape winemaker Jérôme Grieco, who has been winning international critical acclaim since his first vintage in 2009. The Revue du Vin de France named it "Discovery of the Year" in 2013. This wine is made from a parcel of Côtes-du-Rhône Village, and as Jérôme Grieco himself describes it, "it's the little Chateauneuf of the estate". Tonic, with a lovely tangy, sanguine texture and a fresh, persistent finish, it' s a great value in limited quantities!

"It stands out among the 2013s thanks to its extra velvetiness. It's round, with red and wild fruit aftertaste. Already good and accessible." (Le Guide des bonnes affaires du vin 2016 - Gerbelle & Maurange) This Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the very expression of its appellation: beautiful red fruit, loaded with sunshine and a fresh attack that counterbalances the overall power. Excellent value for money!

"On the nose, it expresses race, lace and, above all, superior length of flavor. A cuvée with strength and finesse. The fruit is perfectly preserved. Magnificent selection of pure old Grenache vines (80 years) on sandy soil". (Le Guide des bonnes affaires du vin 2016 - Gerbelle & Maurange)
