"A lively Côtes-du-Rhône".

"A serious Côtes-du-Rhône. Full of forest fruits with delicate notes of spice, bitter chocolate and licorice. The full-bodied palate has impressive depth and real structure. I love the way the generous, rather fine tannins carry the long, spicy, fresh finish." (James Suckling 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

In his new facilities in the heart of Tain, Jacques Grange has access to sublime, state-of-the-art equipment. He is assisted by Marco Beckmann, an Italian oenologist and wine taster. Future vintages look promising. In Hermitage, the new cuvée from the hilltop Grandes Vignes reveals this little-used terroir.

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

Founded in 1835 and owned by Champagne Deutz (Roederer group) since 1977. Under the direction of Fabrice Rosset and his technical director Jacques Grange, it has its own 30 ha in the northern appellations, supplemented by grape purchases, with the southern range coming from the négociant-éléveur side.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

Delas has been part of Champagne Deutz since 1977, and is now part of the Louis Roederer group. Priority has been given to vineyards with a high proportion of massal selection plantings. The company has its own vineyards covering 30 hectares, including 10 in Hermitage: 8 at Les Bessards and 2 at L'Ermite. The company completes its range by purchasing musts and grapes. We confess to sometimes being a little circumspect when faced with the overly marked ageing of the most prestigious cuvées, which in our opinion deserve to be worked closer to the fruit and freshness. It should be noted that, as of 2019, the house has a brand-new vinification and reception facility in Tain.

I like the way the generous and rather fine tannins carry the long, spicy and fresh finish. A cuvée made from 60% Grenache, mainly from the Vaucuse region, with about 30% Syrah from the Gard and small amounts of Mourvèdre and other traditional varieties. Drink or keep.

CDR of character with flawless balance and a particularly interesting RQ/P. Round, slender and deep, it provides immediate pleasure thanks to its supple material and its juicy and intensely fruity aromatic accuracy, coated with subtle meaty notes. The fine, melted and mellow tannins bring vigor and perfect the finish by adding a hint of mineral freshness. Ideal to accompany everyday southern dishes, in this case small stuffed nicois. Score = 4.2.
