"The oldest Grenache vines".
"Family Grenache 2016 presents itself beautifully, with a deep purple hue followed by an incredible complex bouquet of black cherries and spicy blueberries mixed with hints of licorice, lavender, peppery garrigue and violets. A deep, rich and powerful Grenache sustained by a beautiful freshness, ripe tannins and a superb mineral finish. It would easily take its place in a blind tasting against choice Châteauneuf-du-Pape." Domaine noté Sélectionné (An estate or house that has won us over with one or more wines from its production, without us being able to give a general opinion on the style of the entire range)
About the domain :
Nestled between Mont Ventoux and the charming village of Séguret, Domaine du Mourchon extends over 35 hectares, resting on a combination of clay and limestone soils.

Rated 91-93/100 (Vin Formidable)
Domaine noté Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
The full-bodied Grenache de la Réserve Familiale 2016 is another exceptional wine from Mourchon. Although probably higher in alcohol than 2015, it doesn't show the heat at all, offering instead big black cherry and plum flavors, ample body and a long, firm finish. It should age unusually long for a Grenache-based Côtes du Rhône Villages wine.
Wine Spectator
Rated 92/100 (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
Ripe and fleshy to the touch, with waves of plum and blackcurrant jam, supported by notes of tobacco and roasted apple wood and showing a touch of graphite at the very end. Solid.
Jancis Robinson
Rated 16.5/20
About the wine:
Deep garnet. Rich, sweet and brambly on the nose. This variety, though obviously picked at the limit of ripeness, seems so much more at home here than Syrah! There's a touch of strawberry jam and masses of garrigue-scented fruit, followed by fine tannins.
