"A metronome's consistency for this cuvée born of Grenache (80%), Syrah (15%) and a touch of Mourvèdre. The jury appreciated its clean, typical expression of Zan, dark berries and toasted aromas. Finesse, suppleness and caressing, the palate unfurls notes of blackcurrant paste, underpinned by soft tannins and discreet woodiness with accents of dried fruit. A well-balanced, gourmet Gigondas, very much in keeping with its vintage". (Le Guide Hachette 2023).

Alain Jaume - Grand Veneur
Gigondas
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
A key figure in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel, Alain Jaume's family runs a top-quality wine merchant business, as well as owning fine vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône. Their main source of pride is the grand-veneur wine, a classic Châteauneuf. Clos de Sixte, the family estate in Tavel, offers a fine image of the cru, while in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the cuvée de vieilles-vignes is one of the appellation's finest wines. The estate's destiny is being brilliantly assured by Alain Jaume's children.

About the domain :
Of Castelpapal origin, Alain Jaume and his sons, Sébastien and Christophe, perpetuate a winegrowing tradition that dates back to 1826. They manage a 155-hectare organic vineyard spread over 4 estates: Grand Veneur in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos de Sixte in Lirac, Ch. Mazane in Vacqueyras, and Dom. la Grangette Saint-Joseph in AOC Côtes-du-Rhône, all complemented by a trading activity. A sure bet.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Estate rated 4*Stars (Very high quality production)
About the domain :
The Jaume family have been winegrowers "...since Mathieu Jaume decided to cultivate vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1826". Today, Odile and Alain Jaume and their sons, Christophe and Sébastien, manage a 70-hectare vineyard (Domaine Grand Veneur, Clos de Sixte), which also includes the Lirac and Côtes du Rhône appellations. Grenache noir and Syrah dominate the grape varieties. The estate began the transition to organic farming in 2009.

About the domain :
Vinous A. Galloni
Rated wine (guide 2023) 91/100
About the wine:
Opaque magenta. Expressive aromas of red and black berries with smoky accents are very clear, enriched by notes of black pepper and licorice with aeration. Supple and full-bodied on the palate, this wine offers sumptuous flavors of cherry and black raspberry with a touch of succulent herbs. The finish is smooth and long, with well-balanced tannins and lingering notes of cherry and spice.
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2022) 89/100
About the wine:
A bold, slightly rustic red wine from the Southern Rhône, with aromas ranging from redcurrant to fig to blackberry. Medium-bodied, with herbaceous freshness and a slightly drying finish. Drink now.
