"Gigondas Le Pas De L'Aigle 2021, the flagship of this formidable domaine, is almost entirely Grenache (with 10% Syrah) and benefits from longer ageing in foudre. This beauty has a gorgeous nose of ripe black raspberries, blackberries, sandalwood and Provençal garrigue. Although in the fresher, medium-bodied style of the vintage, it has tremendous mid-palate depth, ripe, polished tannins and an excellent finish. The 2021 vintage in Gigondas couldn't be better, and this wine has plenty of appeal today, but will evolve well for a good decade." (Jeb Dunnuck 2023)

Rated 92/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
This is the largest and probably one of the oldest estates in Gigondas, run by current owner Pierre Amadieu, one of the most committed men in the village. The estate boasts breathtaking plots on La Machotte, Pas de l'Aigle and Romane, among others. At an altitude of 400 meters, the Grenache grapes are harvested at full ripeness, then matured for a long time in foudres, some of which are over half a century old. The other appellations on offer are cared for with the same attention to detail. A true Favorite for rosés, the reds confirm their ageing potential, while the whites are admirably fresh.

About the wine:
Bright ruby. The expressive nose initially offers notes of fresh red fruit and potpourri, complicated by exotic spices and incense. Deep but energetic, the seductive, pleasantly sweet raspberry and cherry flavors tighten in the second half. Silky tannins shape a surprisingly long, supple finish that leaves behind suave notes of spice cake and lavender pastille.
