Grignan-les-Adhémar
Formerly known as "Coteaux du Tricastin", Grignan-les-Adhémar is a vineyard covering 1800 hectares of vines. The Grignan-les-Adhémar wine extracted from this terroir is distinguished by its unique taste, with exquisite, refined flavors. Find out all you need to know about this all-natural wine.

The characteristics of Grignan-les-Adhémar wine and the grape varieties used to make it

Classified as a softly conceived wine, Grignan-les-Adhémar is made in the heart of the Rhône vineyards. Elegant and delicious, this wine has an intense color. It immediately stands out from the alternatives with its sublime ruby color and brilliant mauve highlights. When aged in the right conditions, Grignan-les-Adhémar will develop aromas of aniseed and licorice.

Two main grape varieties are used to make this beverage. The first is Black Syrah. Also known as Shiraz noire or Serine noire, this grape variety is native to the Rhône region of France. The second dominant grape variety used to make this wine is Grenache noir. This is a black wine grape, originally from Aragon (Spain), where it is known as garnacha.

In addition to these main components, other grape varieties are also involved in the creation of Grignan-les-Adhémar wine. These include :

- Carignan noir,
- White Grenache,
- Black Marselan,
- Mourvèdre noir,
- Le Bourboulenc blanc,
- Cinsaut noir,
- and Clairette blanche.

Producers will also be able to use white Viognier from the Rhône and white Roussanne from the Rhône.

How do you keep Grignan-les-Adhémar wine?

Without proper storage, Grignan-les-Adhémar may lose its original flavor and become slightly discolored. Depending on where you plan to store your bottle, you'll need to comply with certain requirements. You have the option of storing your bottles in a suitable wine cabinet. If you opt for this solution, you'll need to ensure that the ambient temperature is constantly between 12 and 14°C.

You can also store Grignan-les-Adhémar wine in a normal wine cellar. Ideally, this should have a minimum temperature of 10°C. You should also ensure that the temperature does not exceed 13°C. To optimize the preservation of wine in a cellar, it is usually advisable to keep bottles horizontal. As a reminder, strong and sudden variations in heat can have a negative impact on the quality of the beverage.

By opting for one or other of the storage methods described above, you can preserve your wine for 5 to 20 years. Grand crus, on the other hand, can preserve their quality intact for 25 years.

How should Grignan-les-Adhémar wine be served?

When serving this type of wine, you need to take into account certain specific codes. First and foremost, note that for normal service, it is advisable to respect a quantity of 15 cl per glass. Aeration and decanting can be carried out in a carafe. Decanting should preferably be carried out one or even 2 hours before the wine is served at the table. In this way, you can fully enjoy the richness and flavor of your beverage. This delicious wine is best served at a temperature of between 14 and 16°C.

Finally, to fully appreciate the refined taste of a Grignan-les-Adhémar, you'll need to pair it with appropriate dishes. At the table, this wine goes perfectly with strong cheeses and red meats. If you'd like to try this wine, it's available in a number of variants. For example, you can opt for a Grignan-les-Adhémar rosé or a Grignan-les-Adhémar white.
