Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné
Founded in 1834 Paul Jaboulet Aîné remained a family business until 2006, when it was acquired by the Frey finance company.
The Paul Jaboulet Aîné estates offer a wide range of wines from their négoce and their hundred or so hectares (in organic conversion) spread over several northern estates, including the legendary La Chapelle en Hermitage. Bought in 2006 by the Frey family, owners in Champagne and Bordeaux (La Lagune), it is managed by Caroline Frey.

"An unmissable vintage".

A classic since 1950, Cuvée Parallèle 45 is celebrated the world over for its exceptional quality and generous character. It takes its name from the famous latitude where the world's great wines are born. It crosses France and passes through the cellars of Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné. Gourmandise and generosity are the watchwords of this wine. The Syrah & Grenache alliance reveals fruity aromas, subtly enhanced by a selection of grape varieties with spicy notes for a fresh finish.

"A mini-Hermitage, in a word: epic".

"Opaque ruby color. A complex, assertively perfumed bouquet of boysenberry, cherry liqueur, licorice and smoky mineral aromas that blossom in the air. The palate is marked by aromas of soft, dense black and blue fruits, spice cake and candied violet, with surprisingly graceful flavors thanks to juicy acidity. Velvety tannins form a broad, smoky finish that combines with superb floral persistence." (Vinous 2018)

"Fine and delicate, this wine was already appreciated at the table of the kings of France".

"Brilliant violet. Vibrant, mineral aromas of black and blue fruit jam, Indian spices and olive, with a hint of licorice. Concentrated flavors of blackberry and candied cherry, candied violet and peppery spice have great clarity, breadth and power. The floral quality enlivens the finish, which hangs on with excellent tenacity and just a hint of fine tannins." (Vinous 2016)

"Never without its white Les Jalets!"

This cuvée comes from stony terraces of limestone origin, where small pebbles store heat during the day and release it at night. Ripeness is thus optimal, giving this white Crozes-Hemitage a beautiful aromatic intensity. The wine perfectly combines fullness, balance and freshness, with notes of lime blossom, candied citrus and yellow fruit. A great classic!

"A perfect marriage between the two personalities of Côte Rôtie.

One of France's oldest vineyards, developed by the Romans in the Middle Ages, it is said that the Seigneur de Maugiron divided his property between his two daughters, one blonde, the other brunette, hence the names given to the Côte Brune and Côte Blonde wines. Delicate, with licorice and cherry aromas, fine, silky tannins and a long, precise structure, this cuvée is the perfect marriage of two strong Côte Rôtie personalities. All in refinement. - Limited quantities available!

"An impressive Cornas

This Cornas, with its deep core of black fruit, notes of cedar wood, chocolate and hints of game, is a rich, complex wine. It's full-bodied and concentrated, making it a perfect match for small game (hare, wild rabbit) and waterfowl (mallard, greylag goose).

When Olivier serves Roland "[...] wine, the wine that the great Pompey loved" in Victor Hugo's La Légende des Siècles, they wouldn't have disowned this one! This white Saint-Joseph is very expressive, with aromas of pear and pineapple. The attack is full-bodied, carried by white-fleshed fruit flavors and a saline, nicely acidic finish. It lives up to its name!

"Opaque ruby. The highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh cherry and dark berries, sandalwood, olive and smoky bacon, as well as a mineral note. Smooth, even and penetrating on the palate, it offers concentrated flavors of boysenberry, cherry-cola and floral pastille, with hints of licorice and vanilla. It plays richness and finesse with a supple hand and finishes impressively long and juicy, with supple tannins on the finish. (Vinous 2022).

"The nose of green apple, yellow plum, dried herbs and flowers follows through to a medium-bodied palate with lively acidity. The palate is zesty with plenty of ripe lemon character. Well-conducted and concentrated with a funnel-shaped finish. Enjoy or keep." (James Suckling 2023)
