"La grande cuvée white

"A blend of 60% Viognier and 40% Grenache Blanc, this richly textured white balances the opulence of oak-fermented Viognier with the peachy freshness of Grenache Blanc. Fragrances of vanilla and smoke are present on the nose, but integrate perfectly on the palate. The finish is subtle and elegant". (Wine Enthusiast 2020)

Wine rated (2020 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Still developing fermentative aromas, it already displays a panoply of flowers and fruit, finishing on a spicy, aniseed note. Not to be missed.

About the domain :

At this historic Tavel estate, the Maby family produces wines of uniform quality, always honest, pleasant and fleshy. Managed by the dynamic Richard Maby, the domaine continues to progress, with the wines gaining in precision every year. The vineyards are located in the communes of Tavel, the Lirac plateau and in the neighboring Côtes du Rhône. Reasonable prices and consistent quality make this estate a sure bet on today's market, in all three colors.

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

This estate, which is highly consistent in terms of quality, notably for its lirac, in all 3 colors, and tavel, was founded in 1950 by Armand Maby. In 2005, his grandson Richard took over the reins of the 53-hectare vineyard, mostly located on the rolled pebbles of the Vallongue plateau; the vines are cultivated "au naturel", and will be converted to organic farming in 2019. Since 2011, Philippe Cambie, an eminent Rhône nologist, has been advising the estate.

Rated (2019 guide) 90/100 (Wonderful wine)

About the wine:

Barrel-fermented and aged, Maby's 2018 Lirac Blanc Casta Diva is roughly two-thirds Viognier and one-third Grenache. Notes of apricot and white pepper mark the nose, while the rather fat palate is fleshy and silky, revealing a touch of astringency on the finish.

About the wine:

A blend of 60% Viognier and 40% Grenache Blanc, this richly textured white balances the opulence of oak-fermented Viognier with the peachy freshness of Grenache Blanc. Fragrances of vanilla and smoke are present on the nose, but integrate perfectly on the palate. The finish is subtle and elegant. It's at its peak now, but should drink well through 2024.

Rated 93/100

About the wine:

Bright, deep gold color. Fine, toasty vanilla nose with a background of almond, white flowers and mountain plants. Firm flavors that come from a dense material, greedy chewiness, a fluid, saline finish, accomplished ageing. Superb.
