"Northern Rhône fans have found their favorite classic!
"The estate's unfailing consistency has produced the best Saint-Joseph of the year, from a steep, south-facing parcel of very granitic soil. Flattering and complex, the nose combines fresh scents of peony and blueberry with warmer notes of kirsch cherry and sweet spices (cinnamon, white pepper). The ample, generous and caressing palate, endowed with silky tannins, reproduces this gentle spicy warmth and unfolds a long finish with a licorice bitterness that makes you want to have more. Irresistible now, this great bottle of southern charm has a bright future ahead of it". (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

Domaine Pierre & Jérôme Coursodon
Saint-Joseph
Expert opinion

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Jérôme Coursodon is at the head of one of the most renowned estates in Mauves. Saint Joseph wines from this part of the appellation (Mauves-Tournon) are different from those further north, around Sarras, although all are produced on granitic soils. The estate's reds are often more accomplished than the whites.

About the wine:
Savory, herbaceous notes of juniper and bay leaf. The fruit is sweet, pulpy and lush, well-contained, concentrated and well-formed. Structured but not excessive, this is a successful, classically-styled Saint-Joseph that Northern Rhône enthusiasts should thoroughly enjoy. Give it a year to soften the tannins.

About the domain :
Established for four generations in Mauves, the cradle of the Saint Joseph appellation, father Pierre Coursodon and son Jérôme, who settled here in 1999, manage 17 hectares of vines dedicated solely to Saint Joseph, mainly in its red version. The domaine's wines have long been included in the Guide's selections: with rare consistency, they have been awarded stars and Favorites.

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
The Coursodon family has been winegrowers since the late 19th century. The estate owns vines in the renowned areas of Mauves, Tournon, Saint-Jean-de-Muzol and Glun. The whites are full-bodied, without excessive wood. For reds, L'Olivaie comes from the heart of Sainte-Épine, in the village of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols. However, recent vintages have been very demonstrative, with very pronounced oaky notes. The result is wines that are not always easy to digest. We regret that we have to withdraw one star from the domaine.

About the wine:
Full of blue fruit and cherries, with a hint of pepper and olive. The tannins are firm but fine and balanced within the framework of the wine. Good concentration of fruit and spice. Broad, layered finish. Very well judged.

About the wine:
A well-composed, silky, brilliant red. On the nose, aromas of black cherry, raspberry, roasted meat and baking spices follow through to a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins. The mid-palate is succulent and luscious, and the texture is silky through to the cherry-like finish. Enjoy or keep.

About the wine:
Blackcurrant, violet, ground pepper and an undeniable minerality emerge from Saint Joseph L'Olivaie 2022. This medium- to full-bodied, pure and beautifully balanced Saint Joseph has fine tannins and a solid backbone of acidity. It's beautifully crafted.
