"A superb terroir

"Still in barrel at the time I tasted it, Saint Joseph Bois Prieur 2020 comes from the granite soils of Saint Pierre de Boeuf. It has lovely herbal and smoky nuances, baskets of ripe cherries, a fleshy, medium to full-bodied palate and a lingering finish that's both silky and lively. Drink it young, over the next 5 years or so." (Wine Advocate 2022).

About the wine:

Still in barrel at the time I tasted it, Saint Joseph Bois Prieur 2020 comes from the granite soils of Saint Pierre de Boeuf. It has lovely herbal and smoky nuances, baskets of ripe cherries, a fleshy, medium to full-bodied palate and a lingering finish that's both silky and lively. Drink it young, over the next 5 years or so.

About the domain :

Nestled in a small cul-de-sac in the heart of the village of Condrieu, Domaine Niero has just nine hectares of vines: four in Condrieu, two in Côte Rôtie, just over one in Saint-Joseph and just under one in Crozes-Hermitage. There's also around a hectare devoted to the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP, both Syrah and Viognier. Although the clean, modern approach is undeniable, the wines are full of character and expressive of their different terroirs.

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

Since 2004, Rémi has been at the helm of this family-run estate, which boasts a fine range of terroirs in Condrieu, with 4 hectares divided into six parcels. He also produces several Côte-Rôtie cuvées from the Viallière and Bassenon terroirs, as well as a Saint-Joseph cuvée, Bois Prieur, and another in Crozes-Hermitage. The wines are serious, rather classic, with occasional ageing that marks them a little during their youth.
