Pierre-Jean Villa
Pierre-Jean Villa began his wine career in Burgundy in 1992. He worked for prestigious estates such as Mommessin and Clos de Tart. In 2003, he joined Yves Cuilleron, François Villard and Pierre Gaillard at Vins de Vienne, where he was in charge of the cellar for 6 years.

With a wealth of experience gained from working for some of France's leading estates, Pierre-Jean Villa set out on his own in 2009. He bought vines in the Northern Rhône and began his new life as an independent winemaker.
In the same year, with Olivier Decelle of Mas Amiel and Château Jean Faure, he created Domaine Decelle-Villa in Nuits-Saint-George, where he rediscovered the pleasure of working with Pinot Noir.

Today, Pierre-Jean Villa 's range of Rhône wines includes Condrieu, Saint-Joseph and Côte Rôtie.

"Juicy and balanced, with notes of white fruit and flowers. Medium-bodied, fresh and already ready to drink." (Jancis Robinson 2024). A very fine Condrieu, combining density and elegance. The palate is pure, sapid, with good persistence, finishing with tannins that suggest green tea. Sublime!

"A true signature cuvée of the estate".

Tildé is a direct reference to Pierre-Jean Villa's Spanish origins. In the shape of a wave, this accent underlines certain words in his native language. In Old French, the tildé was an inscription, a mark that was affixed to an object. The cuvée Tildé is a signature of his work as a winemaker. - Limited quantities available!

"The heart has its reasons that the palate ignores!"

As the vine grows, the leaves form, and the tips of the plant are punctuated with little tendrils resembling "hooks on hearts". Full of fruit, this Crozes-Hermitage is also intense and well-balanced. Enjoy it with a fine piece of beef. A lovely cuvée to discover!

Préface is a call to discover the wines of Pierre-Jean Villa. De-stemmed and with a long maceration, this Saint Joseph shows a beautiful precision of fruit with a subtle peppery and mineral note. The palate is greedy with spicy accents and a long finish thanks to a supple, fresh texture. A fine introduction!

"So delicious"

Primavera refers to the scents of spring, and thus to the flowers lining the rows of vines. A poem for this well-bred Viognier with its invigorating style and aromas of spices, lemon, orange and nectarine. Full of sap, fresh with juicy acidity.

"A masterpiece!"

Cuvée from a small parcel of Roussane in the Saint-Joseph PDO, overlooking the winery. The last vines are just a few centimetres from the cliff that plunges down onto the estate, and could serve as the take-off point for "an angel's leap". The evocative nose of stone fruits invites the taster to discover a wine with beautiful bitters on the palate and a remarkable touch.

"A subtle Syrah, full of finesse!"

"Tasted before bottling. Lovely, deep, fruity nose, very aromatic (crushed raspberry), an aromatic marker of schist soils. On the palate, a loose, elegant juice, not yet fully in place on the day of our tasting, but it will assert its staying power once in bottle." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve)

"On the nose, it's hard to say that this is a schist wine, since we can't go back far enough, but it's certainly not a granite Viognier! Mineral, flinty, with a particularly salty mouthfeel, this is a delicious white for a young vine. And a Seyssuel terroir to follow for white wine production! With an almost tannic signature on the finish." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve)
