Calvet-Thunevin

Domaine Calvet-Thunevin was born in 2001 from the meeting between Jean-Luc Thunevin, owner of Château Valandraud in Saint-Emilion, and Jean-Roger Calvet, a young winegrower from the Maury terroir in the Roussillon region. From its modest beginnings, Domaine Calvet-Thunevin has now grown to 60 hectares of cultivated vines. Domaine Calvet-Thunevin is located in the Maury appellation area, with the vineyards spread over a soil composed mainly of schistose marl, with a few plots of clay-limestone and others of granite.

Domaine Calvet-Thunevin 's grape varieties are mainly Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, along with Mourvèdre and a few other varieties. The vines are worked ecologically, with no chemical weeding and treatments that affect the environment as little as possible. Harvesting at Domaine Calvet-Thunevin is done by hand, with sorting in the vineyard and cellar. Depending on the cuvée, the wines are aged either in cement vats or in barrels. In 2008, Domaine Calvet-Thunevin acquired a new winery, featuring the most modern solutions in terms of ecology, and offering a high-performance work tool to guarantee the quality of its Côtes du Roussillon Villages, Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes and Maury appellation wines.
