"The 2017 Edre is rich and velvety, offering notes of crushed stone and pencil shavings with layers of ripe black fruit. A blend of 60% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 10% Carignan and 5% Mourvèdre, all aged 18 months in second-wine Bordeaux barrels, it's full-bodied and sumptuous, drawing on a creamy texture, it has a lovely fruit presence and a long, elegant finish." Expert opinion

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 17/20 (Reference wine)

Domaine rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))

About the wine:

Very well matured, the woodiness melts away and the wine's structure conveys an accomplished and sincere aromatic expression. Still very young, weaving in verticality and freshness, it will evolve gracefully over the coming years.

About the domain :

Founded in Vingrau in 2002 by Jacques Castany and Pascal Dieumidou, this estate found good advice right from the start from their neighbor Hervé Bizeul's oenologist (Clos des Fées). In 2004, its reputation took off thanks to Decanter magazine. However, the two are still part-time winemakers, despite their 10 hectares in production. The winery, housed in an old garage, remains simple but efficient. All the cuvées are very well made, making the domaine a sure bet in the Roussillon region.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

Deep garnet, a Tautavel marked by spices (pepper), vanilla and toast. Balance and roundness on the palate, along with notes of leather and licorice, but it's clear that this wine is still in the making. Wait for it.

About the domain :

Jacques Castany worked in transport and Pascal Dieunidou in IT. In 2002, they set up in viticulture in a tiny winery. With success, as their already brilliant track record testifies. The 10-hectare vineyard is located in Vingrau, facing an imposing limestone cirque.
