"Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris express their terroir as never before in this pale gold cuvée aged in wooden vats, whose complex, elegant bouquet speaks of pollen, acacia flower and delicate butter. Full, round and fresh on the palate, it develops long-lasting aromas of fennel and star anise, then finishes with a distinctive saline and mineral touch that gives it great length and energy. A gourmet taster recommends a veal medallion accompanied by a parsnip purée with citrus zest". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)

Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
Brother of the famous Jo Pithon, a leading figure on the Coteaux du Layon in the 1990s, Olivier Pithon fell in love with the terroirs of Calce, where his adventure began in 2001. A fervent biodynamist, he imbues his cuvées with an unmistakable identity, producing wines that are both delicious and easy to enjoy.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92/100
Domaine rated (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
Relief, aniseed notes and bite on the palate.
About the domain :
This is the story of a winegrower from Anjou, with a background in Bordeaux, who fell in love with the village of Calce in 2000. In 2001, Olivier Pithon unearthed some 7 hectares in the area and immediately bought his first dynamizer to apply biodynamic practices. The estate will be certified in 2010. Today, it totals 22 hectares on three zones with distinct geologies (schist, marl and clay-limestone). The winery, built just outside the village, also enables the winemaker to vinify his small business with grapes from quality winegrowers who share his philosophy. All the wines are imbued with charm, delicate mouthfeel and energy. Always joyful, expressive and juicy, these cuvées develop extra flesh and tension in the cuvées de garde. A benchmark domaine.
