"A rich white with great balance!
Kaya blanc is a cuvée dominated by Grenache blanc and gris with a little Carignan blanc and gris. A nose of finesse, with notes of white fruit and hazelnut, supported by a beautiful minerality. The attack is frank and salivating, enhanced by aromas of fresh almond.

About the domain :
Before setting up his own business in 2002, Daniel Laffite spent 15 years working for a large estate that had been organically farmed since 1972. He then bought part of the property and set up his own winery. Today, he manages 17 ha with his wife Cathy.

Kaya blanc 2023 opens the ball with notes of orange blossom and citron. Its saline, energetic character is the foundation of its beautiful personality.
About the domain :
Domaine des Soulanes was created in 2002 by Cathy and Daniel Laffite, in the Maury area. The couple had previously worked these same terroirs for over ten years, alongside the previous owner, before acquiring part of the property. The vineyards lie at the foot of the rocky peaks dominated by Château de Queribus. The estate's wines express themselves in a fleshy yet fair, energetic and intense style.

An uncomplicated, straightforward, linear white, with a lovely intensity of yellow stone fruit, as well as fine floral and woody notes, hinged around a saline framework that brings plenty of freshness and a caressing fatness in support. The medium length seems to me to suffer from an excess of bitterness. So, if the pairing isn't necessarily easy, this Catalan works well with pasta with Collioure anchovies and basil, and also with bbq-grilled Mediterranean sardines. Score = 3.8.
