"[...] Blackberries, cinnamon malt bread, anise and mushrooms. The texture of the fruit and tannins is brighter and silkier than the 2018 - overall, the wine is more refined. [...]; a long, fresh spine of dried thyme and oregano; tannins that resemble the broad mahogany branches of an old staircase in a stately home - soft and silky, a cool warmth, support rather than structure, that takes you gently to the heart of the wine." Château Lagrézette
Cahors
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
3*Star rating (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Alain-Dominique Perrin has worked hard to make the magnificent Lagrézette estate one of the beacons of the Cahors revival. The progress made since the cellar renovation is clear to see: the wines have gained in elegance, and the fruit is better highlighted by the ageing process. We particularly appreciate the Château and Clos Marguerite cuvees, remarkable this year.

About the domain :
A star estate in the Cadurci vineyards, acquired in 1985 by businessman Alain-Dominique Perrin. It's renowned for the distinctive architecture of its 16th-century manor house, with its pepper-pot towers, sloping roofs and dovecote; for its vineyard heritage (82 ha), cultivated since the 16th century; and, above all, for its ambitious wines, regularly featured in these pages.

About the wine:
It's great to see Lagrezette using bottles with such a low glass weight. Hats off to them! Blackberries, cinnamon malt loaf, anise and mushrooms. The texture of the fruit and tannins is brighter and silkier than the 2018 - overall, the wine is more refined.
