Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
Philippe Fezas has been pampering his vines since 1995, when he took the plunge and added winemaker to consultant to Seguin-Moreau. Committed to making expressive wines, which are distributed to wine merchants and fine restaurants, he takes great care in designing his parcels, in contrast to the surrounding production. His two côtes face the Pyrenees, with a variation of soils between fine clays (côte d'Heux) and more chalky soils (terres blanches).
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Heir to 4 generations of winegrowers established here since 1893, Philippe Fezas gazes out from his 50-hectare estate at the small 13th-century church in the nearby hamlet of Heux. In the rows of vines blows the chiroula, a beneficial wind that dries the bunches, which will give flocs, armagnacs and Côtes de Gascogne of high expression. A sure bet.
