IGP Périgord
L'IGP Périgord is reserved for still, red, rosé and white wines and is produced in the Dordogne department. The grape varieties ofIGP Périgord are mostly Aquitaine-based and local.

The Périgord region, which we equate with the Dordogne département, lies on the 45th parallel. It's a land of transition between the eroded Massif Central and the vast Aquitaine sedimentary basin. It is crossed from north-east to south-west by a hydrographic network including the Isle and Vézère rivers and their tributaries, but especially in the south of the département, by the Dordogne.
Périgord comes in four colors: Green Périgord to the north corresponds to the first metamorphic terrains of the Massif Central and is an area of arboriculture and livestock farming with extensive forest cover; The Périgord Blanc in the center extends over secondary limestone and is a very open cereal-growing area; Périgord noir in the east of the department, on marine limestone covered with sandy silt, is a land of moorland and coppice where walnut and chestnut trees share the space; Périgord pourpre in the south-west, on Tertiary molasses, is a land of wine-growing and fruit crops such as the plum tree.

The Périgord region benefits fully from Atlantic influences in terms of both temperature and rainfall. The temperature gradient decreases from southwest to northeast as altitude increases. The opposite is true for rainfall.

"Benjamin and Quentin, the "Frangins flingueurs", have pulled out all the stops with this Périgord red, which breaks away from the house "canon" by focusing solely on Cabernet Sauvignon. "Brutal"? As the label, which echoes the cult film, suggests? Yes, if you mean color, power and density. In the glass, you'll also find ripe fruit and a hint of spice. On the palate, red fruit galore, cherry, plum and sweetness. Made for immediate consumption, this jaja could be kept". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)
