"A real treat!

The finest representation of sweet Jurançon! Its complexity and length make it an accessible must-have, yet full of gustatory secrets. Its notes of sweet spices, aromatic fruit (mango, pineapple), salted butter caramel and candied fruit take us on a light-hearted journey.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domain rated 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

The spearhead of the Jurançon appellation, this organically and biodynamically farmed estate, embodied by its owner Jean-Marc Grussaute, is a key figure in the appellation. Its best terraces produce an exceptionally rich and subtle wine, at a price that's still affordable. The whole range, both dry and sweet, is of an admirable standard. The fifth star really isn't far off.

Rated 16/20 (Vintage 2018) (Very good wine)

Domain rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wines is always a magical moment)

About the domain :

"Be the man you need to be": that's how people are brought up in Béarn, and that's what Jean-Marc Grussaute set out to do when, on the death of his father, he took over the farm and its embryonic vineyard, which he has since led to the top. For ten years, he built the foundations of his apprenticeship, gave up rugby, his first passion, and forged a new one for the vine, trying out all the techniques until he went organic, changing sides, networks and contacts. Now a biodynamist, he plants massales, refines his maturities, blends and ages his wines. In the same vein, he is passionate about the great terroirs he spots on the maps: Clos Joliette first, worked for a while with the A Bisto de Nas gang; then Côte Blanche, his revelation. For her, he tamed the slope, secured the hillside, planted and, in just six years, proved the exceptional quality of this terroir.

An exceptional elixir that's both suave and classy, reaching for the top of its appellation's pyramid. At perfect maturity, this sunny, full-bodied 2019 is a pure delight. From the very first sip, it exudes intensity and tension with its fresh, incredibly velvety texture, combining minerality with a profusion of subtle, complex flavors of exotic fruit, citrus and yellow fruit marmalade, buttered caramel and hints of cinnamon and saffron. Endless sapid, mineral length. An excellent, lighter and less expensive alternative to many Sauternes Grands Crus Classés. Served at 10°, this voluptuous, elegant nectar was a unanimous winner with a truffled whole goose foie gras from the Gers. Simply divine! Score = 4.6.
