"The Charles de Batz cuvée once again defends itself with panache. Made from 90% tannat, complemented by cabernet-sauvignon, it is aged for a year in barrels (50% new). The deep color still shows youthful purple highlights. Intense and rich, the nose combines noble woodiness, vanilla and liquorice, with jammy black fruit. Combining strength and elegance, with great freshness, the palate offers greedy flesh underpinned by tight tannins. Classy ". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2018)

About the domain :
Founded around 1850, this family-run estate has seen 6 successive generations. Following in the footsteps of his father Louis, Didier Barré, who settled here in 1983, contributed to the revival of Madiran, of which he was one of the standard-bearers. In 2017, sisters Claire and Marion Bortolussi (daughters of Alain Bortolussi of Ch. Viella) took over the destiny of this flagship 25-hectare estate, forging a partnership with wine merchant Lionel Osmin to manage the operation and market the cuvées.

Technical wine, masked by coarse ageing. Little pleasure.
