"Pacherenc de Montus features Petit Courbu (80% of the blend, with Petit Manseng in addition), a grape variety renowned for producing unctuous, generous wines. Such is the case with this dry white, with its flattering, complex nose (buttery, toasty notes, gingerbread, candied fruit), full-bodied, fat, rich and concentrated palate, carried by a strong but racy oakiness and prolonged by a long, exotic, floral finish. A wine that leaves no one indifferent, built to last". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins). Enjoy with foie gras or Roquefort soufflé.

Expert opinion

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 17/20 (Reference wine)

About the wine:

A 100% Petit Courbu, sincere, straightforward, fresh and well-coated, still in its youth. Saline notes accompany lemon zest, white fruit and floral notes. A lacy, yet highly ageable wine that will continue to grow in complexity. The ultimate white in the appellation.

Domain rated (guide 2023) Selected (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the domains that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

Alain Brumont develops his personality through a style that takes wines from Madiran around the world under the label of Château Montus, which he bought in 1980. Brumont's cuvées often go against conventional wisdom, demonstrating his freedom in interpreting the terroirs' yellow and red clay subsoils, with gradients ranging from 20 to 40%. Tannat expresses itself in the château's three cuvées, Prestige, XL, Montus and La Tyre, and certainly delivers the most spectacular profile of this not-easy-to-handle Pyrenean grape.

About the wine:

Aromas of dried apricot, papaya, lemon zest, olives and smoked almonds. Medium- to full-bodied, with lively acidity and a waxy texture. Concentrated and complex, with a savory finish. So unique and delicious. 100% Petit Courbu. For drinking or cellaring.

A treat for the taste buds. A delicate, iconoclastic wine that oscillates between minerality and freshness, making it ideal as an aperitif or with fish and shellfish dishes........ a little jewel!
