"Harvested on September 29 (eight days after the Kitterlé), the 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Saering Cuvée Cécile is clear and pure, yet rich and intense on the nose, with flinty/stony flavors. [...] The wine is terrifically young, yet extremely concentrated and elegant, displaying very spicy acidity with grip and grapefruit flavors on the finish. I wouldn't serve it any sooner than ten years from now." (Wine Advocate 2017) A pure, subtle Riesling.

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
From a less botrytized sorting than the VT from the same terroir. Well-balanced, largely off-dry, but with good acidity, it can be enjoyed either as an aperitif or over a long period of time. A very interesting wine, but best forgotten. Its rating will improve.
About the domain :
An emblematic Bergholtz estate for two generations now. The 18 hectares of biodynamic vineyards are the result of the union of Jean Dirler and Ludivine Cadé. In the range, the fine terroirs of Saering, Kitterlé, Kessler and especially Spiegel have great ageing potential, allowing the slight residual sugars to melt away.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (2017 guide) 92+/100 (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
Harvested on September 29 (eight days after the Kitterlé), the 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Saering Cuvée Cécile is clear and pure, yet rich and intense on the nose, with flinty/stony flavors. This full-bodied Riesling at 13.8% alcohol didn't finish fermentation and stopped at 40 grams of residual sugar, moderately sweet. The wine is terribly young, but extremely concentrated and elegant, displaying very spicy acidity with grip and grapefruit flavors on the finish. I wouldn't serve it any sooner than ten years from now.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the domain :
Sensitive and experienced winemakers, Jean Dirler and his wife Ludivine are at the helm of this estate, founded in 1871, handed down from father to son for five generations, and biodynamic since 1998. Whatever the grape variety, the precision of the wines, their density and maturity have never been better: an impressive range of great dry white wines culminates in the magnificent expressions of the Spiegel, Saering, Kessler and Kitterlé grands crus, which must be discovered, and which are now named after the four elements (fire, air, earth, water). This too discreet house offers a remarkable welcome, and many wines are available in older vintages.
