Robert Parker
"A rich, fine and harmonious bottle".
"Pale straw green. Lemon, minerals, licorice and green apple in the very precise nose and vibrant palate, complemented by notes of pear and strawberry tart. Dense, juicy and full-bodied (6g/l residual sugar and 5.5g/l total acidity), still very young, it gives an impression of power, but with particularly refined notes of green apple and pear tart that carry through to the long, punchy finish. Wonderfully aromatic on the mid-palate thanks to its excellent acidity; no malolactic was carried out, allowing the taste of green apple to shine through." (Vinous 2018). A must-have!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 17/20 (Reference wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the wine:
The estate hasn't released this cuvée since 2010. Strong identity on the palate, vertical tension, the very light residual gives it the balance necessary for its strong mineral restitution, patients will be rewarded even if the Brand on this grape variety seems more immediately accessible.
About the domain :
With courage and discipline, Céline and Isabelle Meyer manage the estate long run by their father Jean. Biodynamic viticulture shines through in wines with airy, pure, fresh, chiselled mouthfeel. The estate's two favorite grands crus are Hengst and Brand, where Riesling shines particularly brightly. Pinot Gris is part of a long tradition of dry wines, unfortunately not so common in Alsace.
Decanter
Wine rated (2019 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
Southeast exposure on flinty granite soil. Le Brand produces wines that are "royal yet lively, finely structured, pure and incisive". The 2015 vintage has rich pinot gris flavors and is ripe on the attack, firming up with acidity on the finish, making it a great wine for the table or cellar.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (2017 guide) 92+/100 (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
From a bottle opened a week earlier, the 2015 Pinot Gris Grand Cru Brand opens with a very delicate, fresh bouquet of ripe apples and precise smoky, stony flavors. The grapes come from both the lower and upper parts of the cru, but were harvested together. On the palate, this is a dry Pinot Gris, very elegant and delicate, with an intense finish and stimulating salinity. The wine is highly concentrated but straightforward, fresh and firmly structured. Very good ageing potential.

A fine pinot gris that needs a few more years in bottle before it can be fully appreciated.
