Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss

Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss in the Costières de Nîmes region is located in Manduel, and was acquired by the Kreydenweiss family in 1999. A family with a centuries-old winegrowing history, whose original stronghold is in Andlau, Alsace. An estate whose climate, soils, grape varieties and terroirs inspired the desire to fulfill a dream and indulge a passion for red wines.

The vineyards of Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss are located on the Costières hillside, some 50 km west of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, on a terroir of ferruginous soil made up of Rhone pebbles, ideal for producing great red wines. Marc Kreydenweiss, an unconditional follower of biodynamic viticulture, is interested in the region's old grape varieties, in particular Carignan, but also Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre... The entire vineyard is cultivated using certified organic and biodynamic methods.

Marc Kreydenweiss has also built a cellar that respects these healthy and ecological principles. The wines of Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss have a strong personality, a sign of know-how worthy of the very best. Jean, the son, joined the father in 2016 and is now at the helm of the estate.

89/100 Robert Parker

"Darker in color, Les Perrières 2014 is a blend of equal parts Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre, spent 12-18 months in barrels and foudres. Black raspberry, blackberry, licorice, herbs and lots of pepper pave the way for a full-bodied, well-balanced palate with a polished style. At this price, it's a real bargain, full of character and depth." (Wine Advocate 2016 - Robert Parker).

(2013 vintage notes)

This atypical white is the link between the estate's two wine-growing regions. A white wine made with Alsatian know-how, with a great deal of finesse and elegance, resulting in a dry, aromatic wine with lots of freshness on the palate. A perfect aperitif companion!

"A fabulous expression of Carignan, the 2012 Costières de Nîmes KA offers classic notes of old leather, pepper, wild herbs and an assortment of purple fruits. Medium to full-bodied, with excellent concentration and remarkable purity, it should drink well over the next 4-6 years, though I wouldn't be surprised to see it last much longer." This wine is made using an ancestral method, with pellicular maceration to extract and infuse into the must the finest aromatic, coloring and tannic components of the grapes. Historically, white and red grapes have been blended and vinified with long maceration periods since ancient times. This nectar offers delicious aromas of candied apricot, tangerine, kumquat, curry and lightly peaty notes... A must-try!
