Vinous says this bottle could be an example of the typical complexity of Malbecs from the Mendoza region: a velvety and incredibly flavorful cuvée.

"Fresh and ripe nose of blackberries, chocolate mint, black cherries, minerals, and fine spices. Juicy, full-bodied, and compact, with a savory mid-palate loaded with fine, dusty tannins. Long and consistent, with rich but fresh fruit and cocoa powder on the finish. Drink now or hold. (James Suckling 2024)

About wine:

The Catena Alta Malbec 2021 is made from 70% grapes from Gualtallary in the Uco Valley, with the remainder coming from Luján and Maipú. Aged for up to 18 months in new and used French oak barrels, this purple wine reveals aromas of plum and cherry, as well as notes of lavender and violet, all on a subtle layer of cedar. Dry and juicy, the supple, velvety tannins are complemented by an agile flow, resulting in a lightly structured red with a savory, long-lasting finish. If there is a key to Mendoza Malbec, namely a blend of terroirs to enhance complexity, this bottle could be the example. 2024-2038
