Vinous
This Beaujolais-Villages Vieilles Vignes comes from vines planted high up on sandy, granitic, mid-slope soil, favoring rapid ripening - certainly the earliest ripening area in Beaujolais. Vinification using whole bunches of grapes takes on its full meaning, so that this cuvée expresses the fruit and complexity of the small corner of this land on which it grew.

In my opinion, one of the top 5 most exciting winemakers in Beaujolais. This cuvée is a fine entry-level wine. Magnificent winemaking, even for an entry-level wine.

In a style resolutely more Beaujolais than "Tentation", the VV exudes the purity of Gamay and invites gourmandise. Fine tannins and a creamy texture flow through the palate, stretching to a long, light finish. It's very well made and remarkably balanced. It's so juicy and flowing that one glass calls for another, if you're careful. Fiercely effective, this digestible Beaujolais will be easy to place as an aperitif, as with cannelloni au gratin with bruccio. Score = 3.8.
