Jean-Claude Lapalu
This Beaujolais winemaker of choice delivers precise, meticulous work, and the results are immediately apparent in the glass: signature wines with a strong personality. Jean-Claude Lapalu is established in Saint-Étienne-la- Varenne, at the foot of Mont Brouilly, on 12 hectares of vines, worked at low yields, notably on parcels of old Gamay vines up to 70 years old. Our aim is to express this granite terroir through wines that don't lie.

Inspired by the oenologist Jules Chauvet, Jean-Claude Lapalu thinks of wine in a "natural" spirit, but always in terms of making precise, powerful, complex wines. The choices made in the cellar are essential: rigorous sorting, carbonic and semi-carbonic maceration, unfiltered juices for intense expression and rich flavor. The estate's great cuvées La Croix des Rameaux and Cuvées des Fous have taken their place on the finest tables, to the delight of fine gourmets. A must for all Beaujolais connoisseurs!

"A Gamay for sunny tapas!

This Beaujolais-Villages Vieilles Vignes comes from vines planted high up on sandy, granitic, mid-slope soil, favoring rapid ripening - certainly the earliest ripening area in Beaujolais. Vinification using whole bunches of grapes takes on its full meaning, so that this cuvée expresses the fruit and complexity of the little corner of this land on which it grew.

Grapes, more grapes, more grapes, with no additions (yeast, chaptalization or sulfur) and no intervention to convey the full purity and character of the terroir. Tentation gives the impression of an easy wine, but in fact it's full of complexity and finesse, with a hint of powder also provided by this year's Syrah. A subtle, racy wine for connoisseurs.

Still from a living soil, this time on a volcanic terroir called Pierre Bleue de Brouilly, this Côte de Brouilly captivates with its dark color and intense notes of ripe black fruit, blackcurrant and spices. The freshness and minerality of the terroir combine to give maturity, depth, texture, balance and length to this great Beaujolais wine.

A mid-range cuvée, Eau Forte is also one of Jean-Claude Lapalu's latest creations. Slightly pearly on opening, this wine, extracted from vines that produce a lot of juice, expresses pure fruit, dense juice and structure. A refreshing, complex cuvée of character that flows naturally.
