About the estate:

A 16th-century château facing Mont Brouilly commands a 24-hectare vineyard here, planted on south-facing porphyry subsoil. At the helm is Grégory Barbet, manager of the château and also owner of Dom. de la Pirolette, supported by consultant oenologist Yoan Pitoiset.

Mature and well-balanced, this 2022 Brouilly is a definite success. Although it highlights fruit and freshness, it has a nice body, as well as round and velvety tannins that unfold a crisp red berry juice, enhanced by a pinch of spices and vegetal nuances that continue in a beautiful volume towards a medium finish, with a fine invigorating acidity. Made for everyday dining, this pleasant and easy-drinking Gamay will go well with a Charolais beef burger and Cantal cheese with homemade fries. Rating = 3.9.
