"This Chenas has a deep red fruit character on the medium-bodied palate that could be described as charming, but it then shifts into high gear as the fine tannins develop steadily, with notes of licorice and dry earth adding good complexity to the precise finish." (James Suckling 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Originally from Bresse, Anita Khunel, after a brilliant career as a road cyclist (she competed in the World Championships in Slovenia in 1996!), decided to return to the family estate that same year. She learned the trade of viticulture and winemaking before creating her own winery in 2015: Domaine Anita. Today, the estate encompasses six appellations: Moulin-à-Vent, Chénas, Morgon, Fleurie, Beaujolais, and Beaujolais-Villages. Known for her structured style, Anita Kuhnel gains in precision and balance every year. 2017 is a great success. We are not far from the third star!
