This fine, fruity Chiroubles, with notes of plums, small red berries and wood fire, is the perfect start to an aperitif with friends. Its dense, full-bodied palate, with racy tannins, provides excellent balance. A wine that will evolve towards power with the meal. A true Favorite !

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
The Mélinand family is based in Fleurie, but the 20-hectare estate covers 6 appellations, including the Fleurie (the most important), Chiroubles and Juliénas crus, and since the arrival of Mathieu, the son, a Morgon vineyard. 2015 seduced us, 2016 refined the style in a different way. 2017 confirms the lacy, long, undiluted profile, which we welcome. We only regret that some of the cuvées have a slightly sedate nose. All in all, a highly recommendable domaine with a refined style.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2023) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Created in 1970 in Fleurie by Jean-Jacques and Liliane Mélinand from family vines, the domaine was taken over by their son Mathieu in 2009. Mathieu, who previously vinified in Australia and New Zealand, now manages 20 ha of vines in 6 appellations, including 4 crus. A sure bet.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (guide 2022) 89/100 (Very good wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Aromas of rich berries, plums and vine smoke introduce Chiroubles Aux Côtes 2021, a medium-bodied, lively wine with a delicate fruity core and slightly stiff, structuring tannins.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
Mathieu Mélinand took over the family's 20 hectares in 2008, after gaining experience in the southern hemisphere. Each of the four crus boasts a mature age, maintained by annual replanting of missing vines. All the wines are vinified with indigenous yeasts and aged in large casks. Their textures are full-bodied, but not extracted.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 14/05/2023
Against all expectations, frost, hail and the rainy spring of 2021 do not seem to have altered the quality of the Côtes. Feminine, charming profile, soft, satiny tannins, full, fleshy palate, invigorating, crunchy flesh of burlats and fresh raspberries, enrobed in lovely sweet spices, good length to boot, lively and dapper. The only downside: a price that slipped for a Chiroubles whose 2020 was €12.90. After decanting, this joyful, sensual red was served slightly chilled with Milanese-style escalopes and pan-fried broccoli in olive oil, sprinkled with Parmesan. Score = 4.
