Clos de la Roilette in Fleurie was named by its former owner in the 1900s, in memory of the best horse he owned in a racing stable in Paris. The horse's head emblem was thus adopted and characterizes the estate's label. Although it never seems to have been surrounded by walls, Clos de la Roilette comprises a vast parcel of land on a beautiful, east-facing Beaujolais hillside.
