"Set on well-drained sandy soils, Bolaire's vineyards are originally planted with Petit Verdot, which makes up 54% of this wine, accompanied by Merlot (37%) and Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep purple hue, intense fruity nose with hints of black cherry and blackcurrant, lively, powerful attack, melted tannins, still firm on the finish. "Solid as a rock and already harmonious ". Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2014 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (2018 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the wine:
Remarkably well-crafted: characterful nose, blackcurrant and blackberry jam, gunflint, vanilla wood, palate expressing the same aromatic palette, velvety, fresh, balanced and full of charm.
About the domain :
The originality of this wine lies in the high percentage of Petit Verdot in its blend, generally around 40%. This grape variety expresses its full potential on the predominantly palus terroir of this 5-hectare estate, located on a former island in the Garonne River that was attached to the land in the Middle Ages. Full of character, the wines display exuberant aromas, fruit that is generally very ripe, a skilfully measured woodiness, and a texture that is both powerful and silky, always balanced by an elegant freshness. The exuberance and refinement typical of the estate are evident in the powerful, complex, deep, vibrant and energetic 2015.

About the wine:
Set on well-drained palus soil, Bolaire's vineyards are unique in that they give pride of place to Petit Verdot, which makes up 54% of this wine, accompanied by Merlot (37%) and Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep purple hue, intense fruity nose with hints of black cherry and blackcurrant, lively, powerful attack, melted tannins, still firm on the finish. "Solid as a rock" and already harmonious.
About the domain :
In 2004, businessman Vincent Mulliez, who passed away in 2010, bought the Châteaux Bolaires (Bordeaux Supérieur), Belle Vue and Gironville (Haut Médoc) in the southern Médoc, which have since become established names. His heirs have taken up the torch.

Domaine noté (guide 2019) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
In the paluds of Macau, on the site known as Le Bout de l'Île, the team at Château Belle-Vue (Haut-Médoc) produces a superior Bordeaux of the highest quality. Its uniqueness stems from a significant contribution of Petit Verdot (60% of the blend), which gives the wine a spicy, minty character that's just right. Harvested late, vinified at low temperature (to extract color and fruit expression) and aged in barrels (30% new wood), sometimes a little too dominant at the expense of fruit, the latest vintages stand out for their seductive profile and great length on the palate. This estate is unquestionably one of the appellation's best!

Bordeaux with finesse, lots of undergrowth, smooth ageing. 5* for its value, not a very complex wine but with lots of personality.
