Château Penin
Château Penin has been a family estate in the Bordeaux region since 1854, when it was acquired by Louis Carteyron and his son Jacques. For many years, Château Penin's production was divided between fruit and wine.

Patrick Carteyron, representing the fifth generation, took over Château Penin in 1982 after working as an oenologist for several years. At that time, fruit production disappeared completely in favor of vines, with a resolutely qualitative objective. In parallel with the development of Château Penin's vineyard, new cellars were built.

Château Penin 's vineyards are located on highly localized gravelly soils, between the limestone plateau and the palus zone, on the left bank of the Dordogne, opposite Saint-Emilion. Today, Château Penin manages 40 hectares of vines in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, with an annual production of 270,000 bottles.

"A lovely dry white, reminiscent of the power of Burgundy!

"This is a complex wine, aged on lees in barrels, vats and concrete eggs. It offers great intensity, with smoky, finely-wooded notes, extended and enhanced by citrus flavors on a lively, crisp palate of great freshness. A model of white Bordeaux, complete and tasty, to be reserved for iodized dishes, such as grilled calamari". (Guide Hachette - Edition 2025)

"One of the appellation's benchmarks. Consistent across all vintages, this clairet is a winner, and here again, pure fruit, breadth and persistence are at work. Predominantly Merlot (90%), this rosé is built around very fresh fruit, cherry and tart red fruits, and a framework that is at once fleshy, greedy and delicate. A total success to be enjoyed in all seasons with cured meats, ratatouille or grilled pork chops". (Le Guide Hachette 2025) - From starter to dessert, this Clairet is ideal for any occasion!

"Very harmonious and elegant, this wine has all the hallmarks of a good Bordeaux ~ Guide Hachette "

"Fleshy, fruity nose; smoky toast, black pepper and black cherries - very lively and aromatically nuanced. Delicate and clean, crisp with bite, but also beautiful chalky but fine tannins that give body and structure to the fresh red and black fruits. Lots of licorice spice on the palate that settles at the edges, but this wine seems well made and offers plenty to like. Give it at least an hour in the decanter. Easy to drink, balanced and fine. Enjoy with Sunday roast beef". (Decanter 2023)

"A great freshness

One of a kind! The value and originality of this wine lies in its terroir: 50 cm of on a clay subsoil. The pebbles store up heat during the day, then release it during the day, then releasing it during the night, hence the excellent ripeness of the grapes. Seductive in its finesse, fruit and elegance. - Delivery in wooden cases for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery).

Château Penin's Clairet is a must in the appellation, supple, low in acidity and fruity on the nose and palate. It differs from rosés in that it is windier, more flavorful and more persistent on the palate than a rosé. A benchmark for guaranteed pleasure!
