"Beyond the ripe plum and black cherry aromas that exude from this Merlot-dominant blend, there's an extra dimension of nuance here that sets it apart from many other wines blind-tasted in the Bordeaux AOC category. The palate is well structured, with ripe tannins and a velvety finish". (Decanter Magazine)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 14/20 (Good wine)
Domaine rated (2019 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
The Despagne family has five estates and 300 hectares of vines, planted with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties. The seriousness, inventiveness and skill of the Despagne family mean that all their wines, and especially those from their flagship properties, Tour de Mirambeau and Rauzan Despagne, could serve as models for many a Bordeaux: always flattering, but never far from Bordeaux classicism. Here, the wines are always very harmonious.

About the wine:
The delicate nose combines crushed strawberry, blackcurrant and vanilla. On the palate, fullness, roundness, suppleness and good length.
About the domain :
Winegrowers for over two centuries, the Despagne family, established in the heart of Entre-deux-Mers, is a key player in the Bordeaux vineyards, with 300 ha of vineyards spread over several crus - Bel Air Perponcher, Tour de Mirambeau, Rauzan Despagne, Lion Beaulieu, Mont-Pérat - managed by Jean-Louis' children children (Thibault, Gabriel and Basaline) and by Joël Elissalde, technical manager. Their wines are often featured on these pages, in all three colors.
