Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2019 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
The Despagne family owns five estates and 300 hectares of vineyards planted with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties. The Despagnes' seriousness, inventiveness, and skill mean that all their wines, particularly those from their flagship properties, Tour de Mirambeau and Rauzan Despagne, could serve as a model for many Bordeaux wines: always flattering but never straying far from Bordeaux classicism. Here, the wines are always very harmonious.

About the estate:
Winemakers for over two centuries, the Despagne family, based in the heart of Entre-deux-Mers, is a key player in the Bordeaux wine region, with 300 hectares spread across several vineyards - Bel Air Perponcher, Tour de Mirambeau, Rauzan Despagne, Lion Beaulieu, and Mont-Pérat - run by Jean-Louis's children (Thibault, Gabriel, and Basaline) and Joël Elissalde, director of the estate. Rauzan Despagne, Lion Beaulieu, Mont-Pérat—managed by Jean-Louis's children (Thibault, Gabriel, and Basaline) and by Joël Elissalde, technical director. Their wines are often featured in these pages, in all three colors.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2017 guide) 87-89/100 (Good wine)
About wine:
The 2016 Cuvée Passion from Château Tour de Mirambeau was closed and a little dull on the nose when I tasted it at the Cercle de Rive Droite. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry, a touch of acidity, cedar, and a hint of soy tinged with black fruit, with a clear structure, especially on the finish. Good potential, even if the aromas need to gain in liveliness.
