"Château de la Dauphine 2016 is slightly more opulent than the 2015 with scents of black cherry, Dorest plum, black truffle and licorice, seductive but not quite exuding the same breeding as the previous vintage. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannins. It's consistent and velvety, with a fine touch of acidity and a judicious touch of white pepper mixed with clove on the finish. Finishes with a little more elegance than the nose suggests. A good, solid Fronsac, utterly delicious and worthy of the name ". Expert opinion
Decanter
Wine rated (guide 2021) 92/100
About the wine:
Owned by the Moueix family until 2000, this beautiful 1750 château now belongs to the Labrune family. The black fruit nose is complex, with spicy oak and a slight floral character. Rich and velvety, highly concentrated and spicy, it fails to conceal a high alcohol content. Spicy and vigorous, it is imposing and has enough acidity to give it momentum and persistence. 2023-2032

Wine rated (2019 guide) 92/100 Favorite
About the wine:
This 2016 is a great success for Fronsadais, combining typicity, depth and palatability. Notes of flowers, ripe black fruit and sweet spices dominate the nose. The palate is suave, full-bodied, rich and underlined by a citrus freshness.

Rated wine (guide 2021 ) 91/100
About the wine:
Château de la Dauphine 2016 was harvested at 31hl/ha, less than the previous vintage, between September 26 and October 23. It was aged in 30% new oak for 12 months. It's slightly more opulent than the 2015, with scents of black cherry, Dorest plum, black truffle and licorice, seductive but not quite exuding the same breeding as the previous vintage. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannins. It's consistent and velvety, with a fine touch of acidity and a judicious touch of white pepper mixed with clove on the finish. Finishes with a little more elegance than the nose suggests. A good, solid Fronsac, utterly delicious and worthy of the name. 2022-2035

Wine rated (2019 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
A firm, chewy red with notes of black fruit, chocolate and nuts, with saline and mineral nuances. Full body. Dense and powerful for the vintage.
Yves Beck
Rated wine (2018 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
Deep, dense purple with purplish highlights. Lots of freshness on the nose of La Dauphine, with hints of mint and minerality through hints of chalk. With a little aeration, I also detect notes of cocoa beans and cherries. On the palate, the wine has tension and good aromatic intensity. The structure gives it pep, while the tannins provide the backbone. Fruity, juicy finish. I had initially rated this wine at 90/100, but on a 2nd tasting, the bouquet had gained in complexity, which is why I rated it again. 2021-2033
The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
Still dark in color, the wine is floral, with fruity aromas enhanced by fennel. Rich, silky, elegant and deep, there's fruit, freshness, length and character, and best of all, the wine is easy to find and affordable too!
