"La Favorite !"

Château de la Dauphine 2016 is slightly more opulent than the 2015, with aromas of black cherry, Dorest plum, black truffle, and licorice, which are seductive but do not quite exude the same aging as the previous vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. It is consistent and velvety, with a subtle hint of acidity and a judicious touch of white pepper mixed with cloves on the finish. It ends with a little more elegance than the nose suggests. A good Fronsac, solid, thoroughly delicious and worthy of its name. (Vinous 2021) - Delivery in wooden crates for all orders of 12 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery method).

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92/100

About wine:

Owned by the Moueix family until 2000, this beautiful château dating back to 1750 now belongs to the Labrune family. The nose of black fruits is complex, with spicy oak and a slight floral character. Rich and velvety, very concentrated and spicy, it fails to conceal its high alcohol content. Spicy and vigorous, it is imposing and has enough acidity to give it momentum and persistence. 2023-2032

About wine:

2016 has been a great success for Fronsadais, combining typicity, depth, and appeal. Notes of flowers, ripe black fruits, and sweet spices dominate the nose. The palate is smooth, full, rich, and underscored by citrus freshness.

About wine:

Château de la Dauphine 2016 was harvested at 31hl/ha, less than the previous vintage, between September 26 and October 23. It was aged in 30% new oak for 12 months. It is slightly more opulent than the 2015, with seductive aromas of black cherry, Dorest plum, black truffle, and licorice, but does not quite exude the same aging as the previous vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. It is consistent and velvety, with a subtle hint of acidity and a judicious touch of white pepper mixed with clove on the finish. It ends with a little more elegance than the nose suggests. A good Fronsac, solid, thoroughly delicious and worthy of its name. 2022-2035

About wine:

A firm, chewy red with notes of black fruit, chocolate, and nuts, with salty and mineral nuances. Full-bodied. Dense and powerful for the vintage.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 91/100

About wine:

Deep, dense purple with violet highlights. La Dauphine has a very fresh nose with notes of mint and minerality through hints of chalk. With a little aeration, I also detect notes of cocoa beans and cherries. On the palate, the wine has tension and good aromatic intensity. Its structure gives it pep, while the tannins provide support. The finish is fruity and juicy. I initially rated this wine 90/100, but during a second tasting, the bouquet had gained in complexity, which is why I rated the wine again. 2021-2033

About wine:

Still dark in color, the wine is floral, with fruity aromas complemented by fennel. Rich, silky, elegant, and deep, it offers fruit, freshness, length, and character. Best of all, the wine is easy to find and affordable too!
