Fronsac
Fronsac is an appellation d'origine contrôlée red wine from the Bordeaux vineyards. The Fronsac AOC is spread over the communes of Fronsac, Saint Aignan, La Rivière, Saint-Germain-de-la-Rivière, Saillans and Galgon.

Fronsac is an old wine-growing area of valleys. Today, the vineyard covers 830 hectares, with an annual production of over 44,000 hectolitres. Located at the confluence of two rivers, the Dordogne and the Isle, water is omnipresent. The presence of water helps to create a microclimate that reduces the risk of night frosts in spring, while easing the heat in summer. The Fronsac vineyards are planted on sunny hillsides. The soils are relatively diverse: alluvial at the bottom of the slopes and clay-limestone as you climb the hills. In some areas, asteriated limestone outcrops. The substratum is made up of "molasses du Fronsadais", a mixture of clay and sandstone. These well-drained soils enable the Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes that make up this wine to reach full maturity.

Fronsac wines are ruby-red in color, with intense, distinguished aromas of red fruit, pepper and even a spice box. On the palate, they are full-bodied and beautifully consistent. Well-structured, with solid but never aggressive tannins, they have excellent ageing potential. Blended from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, these are racy, fleshy wines with a complex personality. Particularly noteworthy are the Fronsac wines from Château de Carles, Château de la Rivière, Château Moulin Haut-Laroque and Château de la Dauphine.

"It has tamed the richness of the vintage and displays a harmony to be commended. Magnificent!"

"The floral bouquet is what you notice first, before moving on to notes of licorice, tobacco leaf, espresso and chocolate-covered plum. On the palate, the wine seduces with its silky textures and opulent nature. The finish remains elegant and flavorful. This is the best vintage of Dalem I've ever tasted". "A biodynamic cuvée".

Made from 40-year-old vines planted on a sandy-clay terroir and aged in foudres, barrels and amphorae, this Fronsac works wonders. The nose exhales smoky, spicy and stewed fruit notes in a tender, mineral profile. On the palate, the strawberry and raspberry aromas are delicious. Intense fruitiness then reveals a wine with just the right balance, fresh, precise and elegant. Try it with a roast. We love it!

" Favorite from La RVF!"

"Château de la Dauphine 2016 is slightly more opulent than the 2015 with scents of black cherry, Dorest plum, black truffle and licorice, seductive but not quite exuding the same breeding as the previous vintage. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannins. It's consistent and velvety, with a fine touch of acidity and a judicious touch of white pepper mixed with clove on the finish. Finishes with a little more elegance than the nose suggests. A good, solid Fronsac, utterly delicious and worthy of the name ". (Vinous 2021) - Delivery in wooden case for any order of 12 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery).

"Everything is there: a sustained, dense color; a complex, harmonious bouquet of red berries, lightly toasted; an ample, velvety, fleshy palate, carried by tight but "civilized" tannins. We'd love to taste it today, but this great wine deserves a little patience and will be fully appreciated in three, four or more years. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins). A must-have from the Libourne region!

" A member of the "Expression de Fronsac" club, this estate is one of the appellation's flagships. The 2006 presents an elegant garnet-red color with a brilliant purple border. The expressive bouquet combines red fruit and delicate oak. On the palate, this is a powerful, ripe wine, with plenty of body, volume and persistent fruit. It will reveal its full potential in two to five years ". (Guide Hachette des Vins 2010)

Château Bellevue 2006

Château Bellevue and Château Haut-Ballet (Canon-Fronsac) form a single 12-hectare estate. With no less than 6 Favorites Guide Hachette in 10 years, Haut-Carles is the prestige wine of the Château de Carles. Launched in 1994, it can easily rival the most prestigious crus of its immediate neighbors in Pomerol and Saint-Emilion. It comes from an 8-hectare plot selection, where the specially selected vines are carefully tended. Careful vinification and 18 months' barrel ageing give it its remarkable quality. A superb success, combining finesse and power...

A charming Fronsac, typical of its appellation!

Robert Parker : 90/100Gault Millau 87/100
This beautiful 15th-century Château is one of the oldest estates in Fronsac. Classified as a historic monument, it has been in the same family for over a century, producing remarkable wines for a very long time. This cuvée château, to be enjoyed for the pleasure of the fruit, is made mainly from Merlot (80%). Aged 12 months in barrel, it reveals aromas of candied red fruits and spicy notes, a silky, generous and well-balanced palate with round, melted tannins. Ideal with prime rib...
