"A very convincing wine!"

"Intensely aromatic and expressive on the nose, the aromas burst from the glass (blackcurrant and milk chocolate). The palate is juicy with real purity. Beautiful texture too, with fine, powdery tannins providing good support and lovely freshness from start to finish. Very elegant, easy to drink yet complex and flavorful. (Decanter 2022) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2018 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

This brand, which combines the first names of Florence and Denis Dubourdieu, benefited from the expertise and reputation of the famous Bordeaux oenologist, who sadly passed away in 2016. The whites, which express the surprising minerality of a limestone terroir more than the varietal aromas of the local grape varieties, are incomparable. A small quantity of red wine, which is very carefully produced and now rivals the perfection of the white, is also produced. These are undoubtedly the stars of the appellation! The wines, both red and white (the white being better known due to its longer history), are close to perfection, regardless of the vintage. The white wines are characterized by great minerality, racy and pure aromas, volume, elegance, freshness, and irresistible balance. The red wines, classic and elegant, are equally impressive.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Well known to wine lovers, this estate is the work of the pope of Bordeaux white wines, oenologist Denis Dubourdieu, who died in 2016. For many years, Clos Floridène has undoubtedly been one of the appellation's sure values. The most surprising thing about its production is the profound classicism it expresses: far from the heavy caricatures of woody and overly exuberant whites often found in ambitious Bordeaux châteaux, Floridène white is a slender, straightforward wine, without artifice, of crystalline purity. The red, an original expression of Cabernet Sauvignon on limestone, possesses the same distinguished elegance. These wines can age perfectly for several years in the cellar.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Wine rated (2022 guide) 91/100

About wine:

Dark, purple color, vivid and beautiful. Intense, fruity, and fresh nose. Delicate on the palate, meticulous in the middle, and above all very aromatic, with body and meticulous tannins, the wine stretches out on the finish, long and sappy.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2020 guide) 90-91/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is aromatic and offers a subtle power. It reveals notes of pulpy black cherry/blackberry, juicy blackberry/blackberry and, more subtly, crushed redcurrant, combined with hints of spice, cubeb pepper and an imperceptible touch of fresh tobacco. The palate is fruity and balanced, offering a tangy structure, harmony, a touch of freshness, juiciness, good definition, smoothness, a delicate roundness, as well as a subtle tension and good structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of ripe/juicy wild blackcurrant, small black berries and, more subtly, wild raspberry, combined with delicate hints of morello cherry, lily, violet, cardamom, racy minerality and a subtle hint of fresh tobacco. Good length. The tannins are well integrated.

Anthocyanins - Yohan Castaing

Anthocyanes - Yohan Castaing

Wine rated (2020 guide) 91/100

About wine:

A beautiful aromatic balance between smoky, black fruit, and woody notes. Full on the palate, with a lovely Cabernet structure and the necessary roundness provided by Merlot. The tannins are noticeable, as in 2018, with a little more length and less roundness. Excellent aging potential.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 12/14/2023

A Bordeaux of great class, richly composed and enhanced by the special care given by the best. The excellent 2019 vintage has given the Cru a disconcerting finesse and extra depth, rewarding it with crisp flavors of blackcurrant and Garriguette strawberries, complemented by a touch of cardamom and a hint of licorice. This complex ensemble coats the palate with deliciously smooth tannins and the bold freshness of a unique Cabernet Sauvignon. The finish is elegant and persistent with earthy and empyreumatic notes. A beautiful Bordeaux at an affordable price that will age well for about ten years. Full of energy, this wine worked wonders with venison fillets in a Madeira sauce with chanterelle mushrooms. Rating = 4.
