"Very charming, 2018 signs a major success for the vintage! ~ La RVF "

"Lovely deep ruby color and excellent aromatic finesse from the oak, which doesn't dominate but adds layers of smoke to the black currant and black cherry fruit. This wine is both nuanced and complex. It's a gourmet wine that opens with dark chocolate and licorice. Clearly interesting, with ageing potential". Dark, brilliant, clear colour

Nose

Before shaking, notes of redcurrants and raspberries. After shaking, floral aromas of fresh rose and very light woody notes with a hint of vanilla.

Mouth

Straightforward attack, very refined tannins in a supple envelope that perfects the mid-palate. Fruity and floral aromas are confirmed. Harmonious at this stage of evolution, a promise of delicacy. A very long finish that evokes a sensation of delicious redcurrant jelly.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

The Merlaut family strives to improve the wines from this vast vineyard, which borders on the Saint-Julien crus. Here, the emphasis is not on stunning samples, but on consistency and homogeneity in the quality of the wine delivered. The arrival of a new, talented director has brought greater rigor and precision to the elaboration of a wine that is truly Médoc in character, a little austere and reserved in the primeurs, but gradually letting the cedar and spices speak for themselves. So go for the latest vintages.

Domaine noté (guide 2022) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the wine:

2018 marks a major success for this vintage, which has lovely fleshiness on the palate, volume and depth. Very charming.

About the domain :

Camensac, bought by the Merlaut family in 2005, is now managed by the Chasse-Spleen team, led by Céline Villars-Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet. Recent investments have provided the vineyard with a tool equal to the challenge. Over the last few vintages, progress has been substantial, and Camensac is one of the crus that wine-lovers should take a close look at, especially as prices remain very reasonable, which we are delighted about.

Domaine noté (guide 2021) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)

About the wine:

This estate is regaining its rightful place among the prestigious crus classés. Richly textured, this latest release shows succulent blackberry fruit and layers of firm tannins. The wine will age well, so wait to drink it from 2026.

Rated wine (guide 2021 ) 91/100

About the wine:

The 2018 Château de Camensac has retained its attractive aromas, needing just a little encouragement to reveal blackberry, blueberry, light sea scents and iris petals that I'd noticed on the barrel primeur release. The palate is medium-bodied, with a good backbone and well-balanced acidity. I admire the substance of this Camensac and the salinity of the finish, which is wonderful. This wine is recommended and I can see it aging well. 2022-2036

Graded area (2021 guide) Recommended

About the wine:

Dried blueberries and currants on the nose, with tasty oyster shells, tobacco and graphite. Dried violets, too. Medium-bodied, with firm, fine-grained tannins. Structured and flavorful. Balanced.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Dense garnet-red. Pleasant, inviting bouquet with spicy, fruity notes. Fresh fruit with hints of raspberry, followed by a touch of licorice wood. The attack confirms its aptitude, presenting a wine that is both delicious and perfectly balanced. I'd even go so far as to say it's slender, with the necessary balance and density. A pleasant, seductive and convincing wine. 2022-2038
