Yves Beck
"Very good value for money!"
"Clément-Pichon 2018 is a powerful, typified Haut-Médoc. Iron, dried herbs, tobacco, menthol and coffee give the 2018 layers of nuance. More dynamic than voluminous, this is a very impressive wine. This cru bourgeois supérieur has a lot to offer." (Vinous 2021) - A Cru Bourgeois supérieur in the bosom of the Fayat family like the eponymous Château in Pomerol and La Dominique in Saint-Emilion.

Château Clément-Pichon
Haut-Médoc
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
Purchased in 1976 by Clément Fayat, who also owns Château La Dominique in Saint-Émilion and Château Fayat in Pomerol, the vineyard is housed in a superb building in Parempuyre, just outside Bordeaux. For several years now, thanks to their consistency, these wines have been a sure bet in the appellation. Colorful and dense, they never lack refinement and age well.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the wine:
A lovely wine, still a little marked by ageing, but already expressive with beautiful aromas of wild berries, orange peel and toast. Its development on the palate is equally seductive with its juiciness, dense tannins and good woodiness. 2024-2030
About the domain :
A cru of ancient notoriety, named after a Caribbean island by a wealthy merchant who owned the property in the 18th century. The de Baillencourt family, established here since 1933, sold it in 1969 to the powerful captain of industry Clément Fayat, also owner of Châteaux Fayat (Pomerol) and Clément-Pichon (Haut-Médoc). The 25-hectare vineyard, located northwest of Saint-Émilion near Pomerol, is established on a beautiful terroir of ancient sands with a clay subsoil. A new winery with contemporary lines, designed by Jean Nouvel, was built for the 2013 vintage.
Wine Enthusiast
Rated wine (guide 2021 ) 91/100
About the wine:
Under the same ownership as Château la Dominique in Saint-Émilion, this estate has produced a ripe wine, dominated by Merlot. Although the fruit is intense, this wine has confidence and clarity, giving it a certain lightness. This wine is worth waiting for until 2024.
Vinous A. Galloni
Rated wine (guide 2021 ) 91/100
About the wine:
Clément-Pichon 2018 is a powerful, typified Haut-Médoc. Iron, dried herbs, tobacco, menthol and coffee give the 2018 layers of nuance. More dynamic than voluminous, this is a very impressive wine. This cru bourgeois supérieur has a lot to offer. 2022-2033
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2021 ) 91/100
About the wine:
Nose of blackcurrant, mulberry leaves, gravel and fennel seeds. A little iodine too. Medium-bodied, with firm, tight tannins. The finish has a savory, ferrous character. Try it from 2024.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2019 guide) 90-92/100
About the wine:
This wine is aged in 30% barrels, 60% of which are new and 40% one-wine. Purplish purple. What a symbiosis of freshness, maturity, charm and rigor! Notes of graphite, eucalyptus, blackcurrant and licorice wood. On the palate, the wine is elegant, balanced and slightly creamy. Perfectly integrated tannins and a refreshing structure. A wine to follow over time, but one that clearly demonstrates its ambition to combine rigor and charm, both on the nose and on the palate. 2024-2034
Vert de Vin
Rated wine (2019 guide) 91/100 ( Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is fruity and fresh, with good structure and fine concentration. Notes of blackcurrant, black cherry and a hint of licorice are combined with hints of ripe/fresh red fruit, flowers, crushed red berries, licorice and a discreet hint of cardamom. Fruity and balanced on the palate, with freshness, minerality, juiciness and a fine acidic structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of black cherry, juicy/fresh blackcurrant and, more lightly, fleshy/juicy raspberry, combined with fine touches of licorice and a very discreet hint of toastiness on the finish/persistence. Good length.
