"The wine is unquestionably promising" (Guide Bettane & Desseauve). Acquired by Jean-Luc Thunevin in 2004, Château Bellevue de Tayac in 2005 is a very fine, concentrated Margaux,
with both density and freshness. With intense notes of toast and very ripe blackcurrant, this is a wine that will undoubtedly delight fans of the appellation!

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Estate rated (2012 guide) 3*Stars (Very good production)

About the domain :

"Jean-Luc Thunevin, from Bordeaux, teamed up with Jean-Roget Calvet and bought 20 hectares of vines located mainly on the black schist terroirs of Maury; 2001 was their first vintage. The estate now covers a good 60 hectares. Using methods already employed in Bordeaux, while adapting to the grape varieties and climate of Roussillon, they have chosen to harvest at high maturity.

Domaine rated (2013 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :

(Valandreaux) " Few châteaux can boast so much controversy. The dazzling success of Valandraud, founded by Jean-Luc Thunevin in the early 1990s, annoys as much as it fascinates. How have the wines from this unpretentious estate, built from scratch from a single hectare of vines in Saint-Emilion, managed, in less than two decades, to become one of the most expensive and sought-after in Bordeaux? The personality of its owner, his talents as a taster and winemaker, and his keen sense of commerce provide a large part of the answer. However, the contents of the bottle should not be overlooked: Valandraud, an exotic and sensual wine at birth, is also evolving very well. Valandraud was once the leader of the garage wine movement, but is no longer part of it. With its 10 hectares in the commune of Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, it exceeds the surface area of many of the region's estates. However, the methods have not changed, the vineyard remains one of the best kept in Bordeaux, and the wine continues to benefit from Jean-Luc Thunevin's expertise.
