"A Grand Cru Classé on the rise!

"After a very hot, dry summer, the rains at the end of September were particularly beneficial. The Marquis de Terme team took full advantage of these weather conditions to produce a great wine, with admirable balance. The nose reveals a real complexity of red fruit, blackcurrant, pepper and eucalyptus. On the palate, this Margaux is full-bodied, dense and round, with a great deal of freshness, supported by absolutely fine tannins and perfectly-adjusted oak. A wine to keep for a long time, of course". (Guide Hachette - Edition 2023) - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 4*Stars (Very high quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

Under the efficient management of Ludovic David, with the full support of the Sénéclauze family, owners of the 40 hectares of vines since 1935, this cru has gradually refined its tannin quality and the integration of its oakiness. Ludovic David has revolutionized the vinification and ageing of this cru with its remarkable terroir, equipping it with the most modern tools, enabling it to rediscover its Margaux typicity and, since 2010, to compete with the best wines in the area.

Wine rated (guide 2022) 94/100

About the wine:

Magnificent nose, delicately fruity with pronounced floral aromas. Excellent acidity and concentration on the palate, precise with elegance and restraint. The tannins are silky and well integrated, rounding out the flavors of cassis, slate, coffee beans and dark chocolate. This wine also has a very delicate perfume that is very appealing. This wine is full of energy and life from start to finish. Brilliant. 2024 - 2036

About the domain :

Straddling the communes of Margaux and Cantenac, this cru, founded in 1762, has been owned by the Sénéclauze family since 1935. At the helm of the 40-hectare vineyard is a new manager since 2009, Ludovic David, an agricultural engineer who cut his teeth in the Libourne region, working for Bernard Magrez. In 2019, a restaurant was opened to complement the tourist activities on offer.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the wine:

2019 is a solid, dense wine in its own style, but with lovely grain and freshness. The palate is marked by ripe fruit and abundant tannins. All this will need a few years to meld.

About the domain :

Owned by the Sénéclauze family, this discreet cru has been gaining in density and precision for several vintages now. This is due in part to Ludovic David, the vineyard manager, who has taken charge of the vineyards and modernized the winemaking equipment. The desire to produce fuller-bodied wines with more velvety tannins is clearly evident, and all that's missing is a hint of the extra refinement that seems to be arriving with the latest vintages.

Wine rated (guide 2023) 94/100

About the wine:

Marquis de Terme 2019 was the best vintage I've tasted in several years - this tasting suggests it has improved further over the past 12 months. The bouquet is clean and precise, with fragrant aromas of blackberry, blueberry and crushed stone, the oak perfectly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied, with sappy black fruit aromas, finely sculpted tannins, very fresh and vibrant, with real precision and tension on the finish. Class is the name of the game. Tasted blind at Southwold's annual tasting. 2025-2045

Graded area (2021 guide) Recommended

About the wine:

This is a solid Margaux with aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant, with hints of fresh tobacco and damp earth. Full and layered, with good energy and structure. Tight on the finish, as it should be. Try it after 2025.

Wine rated (guide 2022) 94/100

About the wine:

Full-bodied, round, rich, ripe, opulent and refined, the nose opens with aromas of flowers, dark chocolate and blackcurrant. Supple, silky and lusciously textured, the wine ends with an energetic, polished finish that provides the perfect backdrop for all its aromas of black plum, currant, licorice, cocoa, espresso and spice. Drink between 2026 and 2047.
