"A huge success!

"With 2019, Palmer signs one of its greatest successes: a wine of truly impressive purity and brilliance. The palate shines with juicy fruitiness, the core of the wine is mellow and the finish silky as can be. A real treat. (La Revue du Vin de France 2022)

About the domain :

The story goes that, during a trip to France in 1814, British general Charles Palmer fell under the spell of Marie de Gascq, who was looking for a buyer for her Médoc cru. Palmer was born. In 1853, the Pereire brothers, influential bankers who built the present château and developed the vineyards, followed in 1938 by the Mähler-Besse, Sichel, Miailhe and Ginestet families (only the first two remain). Managed since 2004 by Thomas Duroux, this 3rd Cru Classé, often considered a "super-second", extends over 66 hectares on the Cantenac hillsides.

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of the French vineyard. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment)

About the wine:

With 2019, Palmer signs one of its greatest successes: a wine of truly impressive purity and brilliance. The palate shines with juicy fruit, the heart of the wine is mellow and the finish silky smooth. A real treat.

About the domain :

Along with Château Margaux, Palmer is the other great star of an appellation that is all too often heterogeneous. Its style, made of opulence and roundness, with a magnificent silkiness, is nevertheless very different from that of its neighbor. The explanation lies essentially in the difference in grape varieties (and therefore terroir) between the two crus. Château Palmer is one of the Médoc crus classés to include the highest proportion of Merlot in its final blend (around 50%). Palmer has written its legend by producing some absolutely sumptuous wines: 1961, 1983 and 1989 remain unmissable benchmarks. Today owned by the heirs of two great families, the Mähler-Besse and the Sichel, Palmer is directed by the brilliant Thomas Duroux, who has brought the latest vintages to the top. It has been certified biodynamic since 2018.

About the wine:

This is a very fine wine with a serious structure that is cushioned by the generosity of the black fruit. It's very well-balanced, unctuous, with velvet behind the big tannins. This wine will age for many years. Drink from 2028. Organic and biodynamic.

Wine rated (guide 2022) 98/100

About the wine:

Palmer 2019 is a truly special wine, but it will need a number of years to be at its best. Dense and full-bodied, with explosive energy, the 2019 has tremendous richness of black fruit. As always, the blend includes a high percentage of Merlot (43%), which complements the Cabernet's flavor so well. Thomas Duroux and his team have fashioned another absolutely compelling Palmer in 2019. 2029-2069

James Suckling

Wine rated (guide 2021 ) 99/100

About the wine:

So much sweet tobacco, stone, bramble and blackcurrant on the nose. Full and compact on the palate, with highly polished but solid, robust tannins that run the length and breadth of the wine. Energetic acidity. Very structured and powerful, but agile and impressive. Historic sensation. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Needs at least 6 years' bottle ageing to soften. Try after 2027.

About the wine:

Palmer's bouquet displays the finesse and subtlety for which it is renowned. It is multi-faceted, with subtle fruity nuances. The palate is serene and slightly creamy. It's in the tradition of many Left Bank wines: with a discreet attack, the wine reveals itself along the palate and highlights its tannins right to the end. These are powerful yet fine, highlighting the greatness of the 2019. This Palmer is certainly destined for great cellaring. It shines with balance, delicacy and precision. 2027-2060
